General discussions of portable apps and news.
I've read the forum threads and understand the objections to including freeware (that is not OpenSource) or listing it on PortableApps.
One question: Would it be acceptable though for me to create a 'PortableApps Friendly' version of my freeware application and label it as such on my own site?
For the case of this application, the key constraints would be:
1. Store profile data and settings on the app path using a conforming directory structure
2. Write no data to the host machine (OS initiated MUI settings are acceptable)
This is a small but important feature request and I'm surprised it hasn't been implemented. When multiple new applications are added and so scrolling is necessary. When you click (or even hover) over the up and down scroll arrows the list should scroll. Instead I am forced to click for every new item in the list I want to view. I'll get RSI at this rate! C'mon chaps it isn't a difficult request.
Ta.

John,
Could you send all the moderators a copy of my e-mail address of record and ask them to send me a quick note from their preferred addresses.
I would like to open lines of communications outside of posting.

Hi everybody,
I downloaded this portable Skype version: http://www.chip.de/downloads/c1_downloads_20733442.html
It works like a charm, except when I launch it via the Portable Apps menu. I just copied the folder into the portable apps folder. Starting it via the menu results in an error message from Skype (it can't find some files) but if I just open the folder and start Skype with an double click on the exe: everythings fine.
I'm happy to announce the addition of three new forum moderators here at PortableApps.com. Tim Clark, Patrick Patience (Have Some Patience) and Steve Lamerton will be helping out with postings in the forums and comments on news stories. They join Ryan McCue, Marko Moeller (Marko MLM) and myself.
Please join me in congratulating them and thanking them for agreeing to help us all out.
Regards,
John
I'd like to see what you all do for a cleanup script. Ya know for those lil pcs that you've found that just don't totally go away.
This is my sloppy first version: (Sitting in \PortableApps\EjectScript\App\EjectScript
@ECHO OFF TITLE Eject Black Box Batch File cd.. cd.. cd.. cd.. START PortableApps\TrueCrypt\App\TrueCrypt\TrueCrypt.exe /q /d /w DEL /A:H "%APPDATA%\xpy.ini" DEL "%APPDATA%\xpy.ini" RMDir /S /Q "%APPDATA%\Google" RMDir /S /Q "%APPDATA%\Mozilla" RMDir /S /Q "%APPDATA%\SiteAdvisor" RMDir /S /Q "%APPDATA%\Talkback" RMDir /S /Q "%APPDATA%\TrueCrypt"

Well, it's been asked for, so here's a state of PortableApps.com update. We'll be doing these more often now with input from the other developers on board to keep everybody appraised of where things are at and how things are progressing. I'll break it up into sub topics for easy readability.
An Apology for the Delays
I have Portable Apps installed on a USB External Drive
I have photos in "Images"
When I click on "Images" on the main Portable Apps Menu, however it does not open
the images folder. The same with "Documents"
The only way to access these is by clicking on "Explore"
Can you advise how I access the files by clicking on the relevant icon on the menu please
Thanks
I wanted to take a minute and apologize for the delays in the releases of the platform, the current official app updates and the delay in approving apps for 'official' status done by current moderators (Ryan, in particular) and other developers.
