PortableApps and Linux.

Submitted by Airwolf on October 20, 2008 - 3:37pm

Hi, this is not a question about running PortableApps in Linux. Biggrin

The main question is the following: I'll maybe switch to a laptop with Linux, from what I read in some applications (Thunderbird, Firefox) it's only a question to copy a certain folder to the application structure so that the application can become portable. So, if I understand correctly, it does not matter if the folder is copied from Windows or Linux and so on. Is that right?

Typo on the support page.

Hey John,
You have a typo in the support page about configuring Miranda. Step seven you have "if you don't see if" the second if should be "it". Also in the same step You say "double click on it's system tray", that "it's" should be a "its". ( In case you don't know, "It's" is a contraction meaning "it is" and "its" is the possessive pronoun.) Sorry I know I'm a bit of a grammar Nazi. Blum

What has a file open? [on ejection]

Submitted by MisterQ on October 19, 2008 - 2:06am

I have a Sony 8 GB USB Stick, on which I have every "formal" PA App, and soon some more, I hope.

I am seeing something strange, though...

Occassionally, when I shut down all of the apps that I have been running, and exit the PA Menu app from the tool bar, and then go to dismount (eject) the USB Drive - I get a message that there are still files open on the drive, and I cant eject it.

IS anyone aware of an app or way of telling what files it is thinking of, so I can log a bug report against the particular app in question?

Big Mistake on PortableApps SourceFORGE page!

Submitted by Panarchy on October 13, 2008 - 8:40pm

Hello

Some proxy was blocking direct download from the link on portableapps.com so I went via sort-of a 3rd party (SourceFORGE).

On the 'home-page' for PortableApps on SourceFORGE, in the blurb, I found this;

Download
GIMP Portable BG Window - GIMP Portable Background Window 2.1.3
Last Update: Oct 10 2008

Instead of

Download
PortableApps - 1.1
Last Update: May 20 2008

(or whatever it is meant to be)

What was up with the site yesterday?

Just yesterday around 9:30 this happened.

Then just now I got this alert...

http://img386.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pageloaderror1223937167vc0.png.

I'm 100% sure it's not my browser because I checked on different browsers and had about the same results.

I refreshed after a couple minutes and the site was back to normal.
Anybody know what's up?
