Defense against the dark arts...

Submitted by LanceHaverkamp on January 6, 2008 - 1:38am

Is there a discussion thread about how to defend against evil computers that try to steal the data off your flash drive? Such as:

1) Does ClamAV consider USB Dumper, hacksaw & switchblade a threat?

2) Is putting eicar.com on your flash drive (to mess with their AV program) too cruel?

3) Is there a standardized method of crypto for both files & PGP keyrings? And does that work against things like USB Dumper, hacksaw & switchblade; or do they just re-read the decrypted versions?

Thanks,

Lance

ICO file
EXE file
JPG file (Startup)
INI file's

If theres any more files that are missing or wrong please reply.

PortableApps suites on offer at Softpedia are getting a little aged

Submitted by grannyGeek on January 4, 2008 - 12:37am

http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/Applications-suites/

Lite suite is from May 2007, standard (?) suite v 1.0 from November *2006*.

You guys don't want your reputation at jeopardy, I know.....

I dunno who submits to download sites, but these need updating.
(or removal? I was rather surprised to see the suites there, I thought this is the official download site.)

how can i move portableapps from one key to another?

Submitted by zambo335 on January 3, 2008 - 9:23am

hi,

I need to use a larger usb key so I tried to move the entire content (PortableApps, Documents and files) just copying it from the Cruzer 1Gb to the Kingston 2Gb but something doesn't work.
I can't associate OpenOffice to its files, nor by "open with".

can you help me, please?
Do I need to reinstall PortableApps?
thank you
