I'm also looking for a portable app that would allow me to overwrite unused sectors of my HDD at work, and/or erase files completely by overwriting the space they occupy in the HDD several times (preferrably customizable, i.e. once, 3x, 5x, or more) using random chars.
I'm, essentially, looking for a portable version of Eraser (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=37015) ... one that doesn't muck with the registry. I don't need the scheduler feature.
Is there a portable app that can open disc image files (e.g. ISO, BIN/CUE, NRG, etc) for viewing? It would be nice if it could also write to a blank optical medium, but my main concern is just viewing and possibly extracting files/dirs from the image into the HDD.
I'm looking for an app that could capture the sound coming out of a laptop's speakers and save it as either WAV or MP3.
This is a very good Notepad clone with tabs. It's small too at >200 KB. Leaves no registry entries and is open source!
(go to the bottom and click "Download EXE". Just extract it from the ZIP file and run!)

Have anyone made a portable Ultraedit? Or can anynoe suggest any similar portable editor with syntax highlight?
Just in case someone else is looking for a way to sinc the 3 look here http://www.finchsync.com/
Any chance someone could tell me how to make it portable? Like a java command line something like c:\blah\blah\javaw.exe c:\blah\blah\finchsync.jar
so I won't have to install Java.
Are there any other WYSIWYG/code view web authoring systems for USB other than NVU. I can't really use NVU to go editing my .php pages too well...
How about Desktop Sidebar? http://www.desktopsidebar.com
I'd like some kind of sidebar to check mail, list tasks, show RSS feeds, and the like, but I don't know whether desktopsidebar can run without the registry entries I found (most of them file associations). Any thoughts?

I cant always readily access Dreamweaver and NVU can't exactly read my .php pages and I would love a portable Dreamweaver clone so i can use design view to put the pages up...
