Tangram Portable

Submitted by Garrucho on December 21, 2006 - 9:44pm

My friend passed me a game of Tangram. I liked, and I looked at the possibility to put it in my PenDrive. It's OK, I use this already 1 month.
I integrated it into the menu of my PortableApps, altering him to them my need...

Like me I don't know how to do that, I am leaving the files here for somebody that understands do the installer (.paf.exe) for the game... Smile

Version altered for my use: http://www.hub80.com/augustogarrucho/_HF_/Tangram/TangramPortable%20(Adapted).zip
Original version (installer): http://www.hub80.com/augustogarrucho/_HF_/Tangram/Tangram%20(Original%20Installer).zip

Disk Cleaner

Id like to see this great, easy, already somewhat portable app hosted here. Its great on taking the garbage out (old temp-files mostly) on old over-used computers in a couple of clicks.

Portable Blender (3D Suite)

Submitted by mpan3 on December 20, 2006 - 9:03pm

For those of you who doesn't know, blender (current version 2.42) is a 3D computer graphic suite (like maya and 3dsmax). It is extremely small (only 6mb for a full installation) and is basically already 'portable', since it does not rely on any windows service, dll, or registry setting.

for more info: http://blender.org/cms/Home.2.0.html

Blender is, IMO, an ideal portable app, it is small, very 'portable' already, and is opensource so any modification is possible.

Mnemosyne: a flash card program.

Submitted by paradox_fields on December 20, 2006 - 7:09am

I've been lurking on this site for several months, but I didn't really have anything to say or contribute during that time. However, I just recently discovered this:

http://mnemosyne-proj.sourceforge.net

I brought the idea of physical portability (as opposed to system portability, because Mnemosyne already runs on both Windows and Linux) up on the project's forums. Ironically, someone suggested I mention this here. Also, while I've looked at the program's code, my Python programming skills are a bit rusty.

As far as I can tell, all of the program's settings are written to a single folder inside the user's home directory, so I don't think it would be too difficult to make a portable app out of this program.

GRAMPS - Family Tree/History

Submitted by ktraglin on December 19, 2006 - 7:00pm

GRAMPS, the Genealogical Research and Analysis Management Programming System, is an Open Source genealogy program. Recently I went to Atlanta for my cousin's funeral. Many family members traveled from different parts of the country. We hadn't seen each other for quite a few years, so we stayed the whole weekend. I wanted to show them Gramps & all the data I've collected over the past couple of years. Unfortunately, my notebook computer's hard drive failed, so I couldn't show them anything. It would have been great to whip out my thumb drive and use my Aunt's computer for this.

Apophysis

Submitted by ianweller on December 19, 2006 - 5:16pm

I would enjoy if someone would make Apophysis would be made into a PortableApp. Since I don't know a thing about Windows programming, it would be helpful if someone would do this.

I've searched and haven't found one yet. Wink
