Batch File Shortcut To USB With Different Drive Letters

Submitted by SpeedyGuitarMan on May 20, 2008 - 3:38am

Hey guys

Im working on creating a batch file to open my USB drive whenever i run it.
I dont want it to run AUTOMATICALLY as soon as i stick my usb in though.

I was thinking along the lines of the name of the USB.
So if i had named my USB "SpeedyUSB" it can open it.

I have some code so far that will open a certain drive letter if that drive letter is in use, this is my code:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe "E:\"

This opens E:\ in explorer (not Internet Explorer, just a normal window like My Music etc)

Firefox Preloader

This is an open source program that "is designed to load parts of Mozilla Firefox into memory before it’s used to speed up its startup/boot time." Since I am somewhat impatient, I use Opera@USB, but if this app can be made portable (and made to work with Portable FF) then I would very happy. I link to my own batch file using autorun.inf so I can activate certain things on autorun (Hottnotes 4). This would be a great addition.

Here is the sourceforge link.

Possible App [to change screen saver]

Submitted by fus1on on May 19, 2008 - 4:19pm

Does anyone know of such a app that will allow me to change the screen saver (and settings) on a windows XP system. Reason is all control panel apps, right click menu and regedit have been disabled for the current user.

I can log in as an admin and change it from there but i have about 45 to change and they are very slow systems, a small exe that would run from a stick would save me a great deal of time and effort.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Open Pandora

Submitted by Devo on May 19, 2008 - 2:42pm

Program: Open Pandora

License: GPL

Description: "OpenPandora is a windows desktop application that exposes Pandora music discovery service. OpenPandora fully integrates with the desktop environment and adds additional features to enrich the music listening experience."

Website: http://openpandora.googlepages.com/

Other: It leaves a folder, ApplicationHistory, in the User Profile Directory. I haven't found anything other than that. The registry looks clean, but somebody should double check that.
