Fineprint Equivalent ??

Submitted by kermit.frog on December 20, 2008 - 8:41am

Firstly I KNOW 'fineprint' [http://www.fineprint.com/] is NOT open source/freeware etc & it's more of a 'driver' than a software - but does anyone know of something similar that IS Open Source & can be made portable

The one thing I find a pain @ work is the waste of paper when printing stuff out,
whether it's a Word,PDF,Excel or whatever

Yet by using a program like 'Fineprint' to squeeze 2 pages onto 1 or do double sided printing (even if it does mean manually turning the pages over) would be a god-send

I use this program at home on my main computer and it stores all information locally, the only problem I have is, I would like to play with it at work so I can study my C++ and I cannot obviously install it at work with out getting in trouble, I know that it is useful, and is better then a game suggestion... I am guessing it would be easier to port as it has all its own DLL's and is mostly to my knowledge portable, please ask me for more info if you need it.

Here is the site I got it from.

video converter portable

i have tried making portable apps using thinstall/thinapp. i'd like to know how to build one using the portableapps.com way. could anyone direct me to a fullpage almost step-by-step guide??? i have converted almost all of my program collections to portable. its more convinient when you need to reinstall the os, you get to keep your application settings and customizations. if i get to be successful in making my first portable, i would love to make my illustrator cs4 too. i am not really a programmer just a hobbist.
