Discuss portable app development and modification of existing apps.
Hello,
I'm using Firefox Portable and I would like to block this portable Firefox only on certain websites. I tried to use the Windows firewall but it seems like it doesn't work with portable applications. Why is that? Do you have any ideas? Thank you for your help.
I was using Chrome Portable for a month almost. Its great, i have no problem with it. But i cant assign it as default browser. It doesnt use the portable executable, it always uses the chrome.exe in bin folder. For example when im using telegram, i cant open links. I tried to change from windows' settings but theres no chrome portable. I tried my luck with regedit, it didnt work either. Is there a fix for this?
I believe it is the high time to introduce a search field in "Apps\Get More Apps..." menu. There are so many apps in the list that a search query would be extremely useful.
I think it would also be useful to merge all the currently available options in "Apps\Get More Apps..." menu (by category, title, new releases, recently updated) into just one - "Get More Apps" and move/port the selections/filter you can sort by into the window of all the apps instead.
Dear all,
I´ve tried to upgrade the App by using the upgrademanager, it download the Package twice and comes afterwards with the message it cannot be installed because the package is corrupted or a download error happened.
The same after I have removed the App from Portable Apps and try to re-install.
Can you please have a look if there is an issue?
Thanks and regads
Thomas
Hi everyone,
I have recently become aware that the PortableApps version of Telegram Desktop is not able to start the webcam stream. The device appears as selectable on the app, but the stream never starts. I have tried downloading the latest version of the installable version and it works correctly there. A quick check showed that the installable version has the path "Telegram Desktop\modules\x64\d3d\d3dcompiler_47.dll", while the PortableApps version uses "Telegram\modules\x86\d3d\d3dcompiler_47.dll".
I don't know if anyone can do a script so either just run it in the USB and it will just download all through powershell It may be a bit quicker as well then the on the board software for updates
I suppose that some users wish to exclude some portableapps from autoupdate while others wish to enable autoupdate function for apps which are inside renamed directories. For those users who wish to exclude some portableapps from autoupdate it's very easy to do by renaming AppNamePortable directory. But what can do those users who wish to rename default AppNamePortable directory and preserve autoupdate possibility? I didn't found an answer for this question.
I think these should be called Pocket Apps or even Flash Drive Apps or something to attract more users, then people can know they can install on their encrypted pocket drives! Just an idea for you guys! Some lesser gifted people might not know what portable apps are.
Just an idea guys! Hope you like it!
Hi, I was just installing the latest versions of my usual software, but Windows has warned me that, unlike all the other portableapps installers that I just downloaded, XnView, Irfanview and FoxitReader are not digitally signed. I double checked by looking at the file Properties for each.
Is this intentional? Do I need to worry that these installers might have been tampered with? Did someone just forget a step when packaging the latest versions of these apps?
Is this the right place to bring it up, so that the issue can be fixed?
Thanks
