AbiWord: Change Spell Check Language

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on February 1, 2006 - 4:21am

Hi,

Just downloaded and copied portable abiword on to my thumb drive.

Unfortunatly the computer I'm using is Chinese and I don't speak Chinese at all. I've managed to change the interface language to Englsih. I've also download the british dictionary and put that in the correct place so that I can run the UK spell checker but when ever I load up abiword I have to change the spell check language to EN-GB from zh-CN and even then it keeps reverting to zh-CN. Any idea how I can change this permantly ?

Otherwise portable abiword is great. Thanks a lot

Mark

Sunbird: Verbatim Store n Go

Submitted by Garry Allen on January 26, 2006 - 10:38am

Any idea on how to get it on the U3 Launchpad of this device? I followed the instructions and it works fine by navigating to the directory and running the app but doesn't appear on the Launchpad. The 'Add Programs' of the launchpad wants a *.up3 file to install it.

Hi John,

Sorry to trouble you, but, can you specify EXACTLY which files to copy from Portable AbiWord 2.4.1 (the last version) to the newest one (2.4.2).Is it just the user profile file?

I also have copied the abiword plugins tool, is this correct?

Does anything else need moving to keep my stuff?

Thanks,

Roger

Sunbird not starting

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on January 9, 2006 - 5:11am

Greetings all.
First of all thanks for making Portable Sunbird, I think it's an absolute gem of a piece of software. Now I can take my calendar everywhere in a format that's easy to use!

However, I have recently been having problems with Portable Sunbird. After launching the software the process starts, but no application windows are visible at all. I have tried leaving the process running for up to 15m but still nothing.

I am running Portable Sunbird and Portable Firefox from a 64Mb Intelligent Stick on a USB 2.0 port. The Firefox works fine every time, but Sunbird often refuses to open in this manner.

AbiWord: Messes with Documents folder?

Submitted by justin on January 3, 2006 - 7:59pm

When I try to save something in PortableAbiWord, and I click on "My Documents" on the left of the open/save box, it brings me to the My Documents folder that you included with the AbiWord package. Then, after that, when I try to go to "Justin's Documents" in "Files Stored In This Computer" in My Computer, it defaults to this new directory that is included in the PortableAbiWord package. I have to System Restore to fix the problem. It does however, let me get to my real documents when I go to Start>My Documents. Maybe to fix this, one could rename the included folder to something Windows won't do anything special with, such as "Documents". Or, one could just eliminate that folder altogether and just have people save to their USB sticks.
