Getting it into the menu (SOLVED) Update to follow

If an application is already portable (GreatNews) and running on a thumb drive, how hard or easy is it to get a single icon or link on the PortableApps Menu. I created a directory below PortableApps called "GN Portable" and moved the entire GreatNews tree into that folder. Three (3) new links appeared, I assume because, there are three (3) EXE files in the base folder of Great News.

Can I hide the other two? or is there another way?

Kmahjongg Question

I've installed KDE4 on Windows, and Kmahjongg works great. It's one of the best mahjongg solitaire games IMO. My question is this: How do I find out Kmahjongg's dependencies (what files, libraries, etc. it depends on to function, etc.)? I'm completely new to programming and such, but I'd really like to make this program portable. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Development Test Page Wiki-fied

I've wiki-fied the PortableApps.com Development Test page so now developers and moderators can update the app lists as apps are added and updated. All revisions are kept and marked with the author name and you can easily see the revisions and the diffs between revisions from the "Revisions" tab on the page.

A few rules for editing:

  • Edit only on the page or using a text editor (no WYSIWYG editors)
  • Only edit if you are comfortable hand coding HTML

dose copy dlls in system32 directory in xp need administrator previliege?

Submitted by fishingisfun on September 5, 2008 - 12:17pm

also, in Windows Vista (home basic), do dlls in system32 directory have special attribute? Seems simply copying dlls to system32 (with admin previliege) won't work, got error loading dll message, but in fact the dll is in system32 directory.

Thanks in advance!

How to create a portable client software for an Access-database (backend)

Hi there,

I am sick and tired of finding new limitations in developing a Microsoft Access database every day as it has to run on my school's computer where I have absolutely no rights other than to use the computer with windows XP SP1 and Office XP SP1. I can not even change the height of the task-bar!

As I have a number of collegues that would love to run my software I would like to start a new development project, namely I want to develop a portable client that can interface an MDB-file that also lives on a USB-stick.

Launcher question

Submitted by chiles on September 4, 2008 - 2:17pm

Launchers.
I'm new. Where can I find them? People say, "look at the launchers for similar programs to see what needs to be done." If they are already part of the portable program, how can I view the scripts used in the launchers?
