Can Firefox Portable Apps be used on Linux?

Submitted by lunar on November 2, 2009 - 2:42pm

Greetings All!

I'm a total newbie when it comes to using linux, usbs, and portable apps. So if I sound ignorant, please forgive me. I don't even know if I'm in the right forum!

Here's my dilemma:
1. I have a desktop with XP and I use Firefox as my browser.
2. I just bought an Asus EEEPC 1000 with linux (xandros).
3. I do not want to download XP on the netbook.

My questions are:
1. Will the firefox portable apps (on an usb pny 4gb) work with the netbook?
2. If not, why?
3. If so, how?

After copying the Portable Firefox from Portable PortableApps directory to local harddrive, such as D:\Temp\FirefoxPortable, the following error occur while starting D:\Temp\FirefoxPortable\App\Firefox\firefox.exe:

"The procedure entry point sqlite3_result_error_nonmem could not be located in dynamic link library sqlite3.dll."

Profile Manager in Launcher? Possible?

It just dawned on me, while the actual Firefox profile manager, I guess, is not portable (I don't see how it's not, but I'll take y'all's word), the launcher can make a portable variation. You could probably get away with making the GUI for it look like Mozilla's.

Here's how it works:

If you just have the folders App, Data, and Other, it works like normal.

CTRL-+ Increases All Tabs

Submitted by Ellsinore on October 25, 2009 - 4:14pm

If I have several tabs open, CTRL-+ increases the fonts, etc., on all the tabs, and CRTL-- decreases all of them. Obviously, some pages are going to be fine, some too small, some too big. Is there a setting where I can get it to quit increasing (or decreasing) all of the tabs, i.e., just the tab I'm on at the time?

And is there a way to search just one forum? I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem, but I kept getting results for all the PortableApps.

Thanks
