I've recently begun using the PortableApps suite, mostly Firefox Portable, at work. I love the flexibility it offers.
Sometimes when I start firfox portable I get a message box that says authentication is required and I should enter a username and password for http://dylogon. The only way I can get rid of it is to delete firefox portable from my thumb drive and download it again. How can I avoid this?
I have Portable Firefox and Portable OpenOffice.org, and I'd really like to have OOo files opened in my portable Firefox. However, I can't use the "Activate Mozilla plugin" checkbox in OOo because I also have a local version of Firefox...
Also, I take FF & OOo to different computers, so they have different drive letters on a regular basis... is there a way to get around those problems?
I have just stripped out a version of FF to pass on to someone else and found in the cache there were some humongous files, up to 15meg in size, and heaps of randomly assigned file names.
What are they?
Why when you clear all the options such as history, pws, etc they still stick around?
Hi
I have just install portableapps and firefox.
When i start firefox i see portableapps splashscreen and then firefox crash report. I cant start fifefox.
Thunderbird do albost that same. I install it, start, see splashscreen and then nothing.
OS: Windows 7
I posted this in the Portable Apps general forum since I thought it might have something to do with the whole web site, but there was no response. Perhaps its just best if I put it in the Firefox Portable forum:
I like to keep my RSS feeds as pulldown lists on my Firefox bookmark toolbar just to keep track of sites casually. It's not an emergency if I miss anything so that's fine, but for some reason the PortableApps.com RSS feed does not update automatically. It only updates when I tell it to with a right-click Reload Live Bookmark.
I am unable to reply to previous MozRegKey threads so I'm going to post the question here:
I am trying to install shockwave as an add on to firefox portable.
Copying the .dll file from either an existing firefox plugins folder or the system 32\adobe folder does not work like it does with flash because the 'Swdnld.exe' file is missing and is not part of the install file (checked temporary files) and unsourcable online (it should be system32\adobe\director)
When the shockwave install exe file is clicked it always installs to the C drive - there is no possibility of interrupting it.
Hi,
can anyone help me with my problem:
-> test on java.com: script works, but applet remains blank.
however, both work fine on the non-portable Firefox and IE, so the JAVA installation seems to be OK
Settings:
- FFP 3.5.2 on Windows XP SP3
- JAVA RE 6.15 installed (not Portable JAVA)
- JAVA Settings: Default Java for browsers/Mozilly Family -> enabled
- FFP Settings: Java Script/Java -> enabled; No-Script/Ad-Block -> disabled for java.com
- npdeploytk.dll and npjp2.dll in plugin directory
thanks
Right now running 3.5.2 Portable Firefox. Even though I have disabled Auto Check for updates to Installed Add-Ons... it still seems to check for them. Seeing the same thing with Desktop Firefox.
Been meaning to bring this up for a bit, but it's such a minor inconvenience, I almost didn't bother. Finding myself bored, I figured I might toss it out there and see what it sticks to.
