Hello,
I have problems with firefox portable and installing addons.
is there any way to put a .html file into the firefox and let it open that as the homepage?
im aware that you can using f://firefoxportable/etc..
but what if the usb letter changes when you insert it into a new computer? how can i make the local homepage open all the time?
Greetings All!
I'm a total newbie when it comes to using linux, usbs, and portable apps. So if I sound ignorant, please forgive me. I don't even know if I'm in the right forum!
Here's my dilemma:
1. I have a desktop with XP and I use Firefox as my browser.
2. I just bought an Asus EEEPC 1000 with linux (xandros).
3. I do not want to download XP on the netbook.
My questions are:
1. Will the firefox portable apps (on an usb pny 4gb) work with the netbook?
2. If not, why?
3. If so, how?
After copying the Portable Firefox from Portable PortableApps directory to local harddrive, such as D:\Temp\FirefoxPortable, the following error occur while starting D:\Temp\FirefoxPortable\App\Firefox\firefox.exe:
"The procedure entry point sqlite3_result_error_nonmem could not be located in dynamic link library sqlite3.dll."
It just dawned on me, while the actual Firefox profile manager, I guess, is not portable (I don't see how it's not, but I'll take y'all's word), the launcher can make a portable variation. You could probably get away with making the GUI for it look like Mozilla's.
Here's how it works:
If you just have the folders App, Data, and Other, it works like normal.
The latest install of firefox seems to install ok, and in ABOUT it even says "3.5.4" but when I checked Help/Check for updates, it says:
There were problems checking for updates, firefox could not be updated".
Any ideas what happened?

Concerned about the vulnerabilities I just read about. Do these get addressed fairly quickly on 'our' side?
Thanks for all the hard work!
How can I hide Firefox's "Bookmarks" menu, anyone? Tried the instructions here (http://www.iosart.com/firefox/plainoldfavorites/, see the "Tips" section), but it didn't work, which makes me think that for *portable* Firefox, things might be a little different.
If I have several tabs open, CTRL-+ increases the fonts, etc., on all the tabs, and CRTL-- decreases all of them. Obviously, some pages are going to be fine, some too small, some too big. Is there a setting where I can get it to quit increasing (or decreasing) all of the tabs, i.e., just the tab I'm on at the time?
And is there a way to search just one forum? I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem, but I kept getting results for all the PortableApps.
Thanks
Send Link opens up launches my web based Google account instead of starting Thunderbird Portable. Is there a way to correct this?
