Firefox Portable

52.2.1 ESR on Vista (32-bit): profile cannot be loaded

Submitted by ljc on July 30, 2017 - 2:01am

- Copied FirefoxPortable.ini from Other\Source to the folder containing FirefoxPortable.exe and made sure all the entries in it were correct.
- Tried to run "FirefoxPortable.exe -p" but found out later that it was not portable.
- Made an %appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\profile.ini file and a Profiles subfolder (both empty) under that folder.
- Did not tamper with the App folder, except for deleting Firefox64.

Nothing worked. This seems to be a new problem as I couldn't find any solution on the Web.

Firefox Portable & Java Plugin

Submitted by keitarobr on July 28, 2017 - 3:55pm

Dear all,

I've being trying to run Firefox Portable (versions ESR 45.7 and regular 45) with jPortable (versions 8 update 91 and 121) with no success.

I'm capable of seeing the plugin available in the browser but when I try to run an applet (such as in https://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp) it just stays blank after I click on "Verify java version".

Some time later a message appears saying that it wasn't able to detect the installed version.

Any idea what is happening?

Running Multiple instances of Firefox ESR 52 Portable

Submitted by rpaz on July 21, 2017 - 6:52am

Hi,

Recently I upgraded my Firefox ESR to v52.2.1 and notice I can't run more Firefox instances despite the fact i have FirefoxPortable.ini set like this:
---
[FirefoxPortable]
AllowMultipleInstances=true
---

Firefox itself presented the error Firefox is already running, but is not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window

Did some testing and found that this version only accepts multiple instances if the -no-remote option is not passed to firefox.exe by the portable launcher.

Default preferences

Submitted by Dimass on June 23, 2017 - 4:03am

Hi,

In a local Firefox installation is it possible to set preferences at /Firefox/defaults/pref/all.js (or other name js file). It is useful for setting preferences to remain after every restart overwriting the user settings, or setting a mozilla.cfg file to lock some settings. We need it to lock some proxy settings before distribute the portable Firefox to our users.

I tried it with Firefox Portable and it doesn't seems to read Firefox/defaults/pref/*.js files. How can I do it with the Firefox Portable?

Thx
