Like a lot of folks, despite official disapproval, I run portable apps, including Firefox and Thunderbird, from my hard drive. Mainly because I like the control of where the data goes and ease of backup.
Recently my computer died and the replacement is running Vista. And Vista has been refusing to let me designate Firefox as the default browser. I finally found a note that says a program must be registered before Vista will allow it to be assigned as default.
Does anyone know what the minimal entry into the registry would be to get Vista to recognize my programs?
Yeah I know, this has been ask and answered many times. I'm going to ask again. Please don't post rude comments or anything. Just don't answer.
I've use Portable Firefox thousands of times. What I want to know what do you need for full functionality but taking up the smallest space as possible? Which means full themes, add-ons, and user profile. Its just for one user (me) so I don't need to have to make any other profiles. Thanks.
Hi ! FF 3.0 is at http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk
Hope!
Bye!
I have found that traces can be left behind on the host computer when using Firefox Portable. Specifically, files can be left in the "X:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox" folder.
I had concerns that this was possibly related to an add-on or some settings I had changed, so I downloaded a fresh copy and found that this was still not the case. I did, however, go on to discover that this only happens when Firefox Portable was executed from a folder at a specific location on the hard drive.
I have occasionally managed to access the BBC radio feeds via VLC, but I would like to do so via firefox. The BBC player page needs a plugin (e.g http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/bbc7.shtml) - how can I get that working portably?
Hi,
Anyone know if Firefox portable works with OSX?
I tried to download the Portable Apps Suite Lite and NO LUCK!
Thanks
I am behind a proxy that requires authentication, and under 2.0.0.1 all was working fine. After upgrading to 2.0.0.3 when I start portable firefox I get a proxy authentication dialog that is half empty - the OK and Cancel buttons are there but with no text in them, and clicking on them does nothing. Sometimes the dialog is missing all of the text entirely. Pressing Enter or Esc do nothing - all I can do is close the dialog, at which point it just reopens (again and again, I have closed it over 30 times and it still reopens).
I use FFP off a USB drive at work and have for quite awhile. Work is the only place I use it. When FF wants to update, it's done at work.
I was in the Add/Remove Programs and was surprised to see FF 2.0.0.3 listed there. I verified that I did not have a locally installed copy of FF, shut down FFP, removed my flash drive and then started the uninstall. Sure enough I got an error that it couldn't find the uninstall and gave a path to the location on my (removed) flash drive. I let XP remove the uninstall entry and all is well.
Hello,
I am a big fan of portable firefox. However, I found that there is a problem. When I tried to check the history of the webpages which I have surfed, I always found that the history shown in the sidebar is completely empty.
I am wondering that maybe portable firefox does not have this funciton. That should be fine as well. I do not know if there is a plugin or something which can keep the history for me? Hope sb can give me an answer. Thanks.
