Enabling Cache in Cross-Platform Firefox

Submitted by jimwg on December 31, 2008 - 10:22pm

Happy New Year!

I'm running Cross-Platform Firefox 1.5 (and Thunderbird!) on my flash drive and it runs super in either Mac or PC mode, but it doesn't, by design, keep the cache out of security reasons. I feel confident enough that I can watch out for my drive, so is there a way to alter the config files and enable the cache in the flash drive?

Thanks for any suggestions and Happy New Year!

my school just updated to owa 07 and firefox portable wont log in it says that my username or password is invalid. Ive cleared all the private data and turned off plugins but it still wont work. It works on the local firefox fine even with all the same plugins

I usually use IEtab but it wont work either way it works both ways on the local one.

portable firefox acnnot run because drive is read only.

Whenever I run FF portable it comes up with a little message saying my flash drive is read only, so it has to put some temporary files on the local HDD. I don't think my flash drive is R-O because I can create and edit files on it but FF portable insists it is...

How can I fix this?

Using the same configurations in Portable Firefox 2 and 3

it so happens, that Mozilla are a bunch of moronic stubborn jackasses when it comes to resizing pictures. I happen to NEED to resize without any anti-aliasing functions, while they insist that blurring images is the only way to go and simply wont even give me any other option.

On to the topic at hand, this forces me to roll back to Firefox2. How do I pass all of my bookmarks and settings back to Portable Firefox2? I tried just copy/pasting all of the folders inside "data" but the bookmarks, security configuration, and saved username/passwords were missing. What to do?

Export settings

I would like to move my settings from Firefox installed in vista to Firefox Portable but I've not been able to do it with the instructions i found in the FAQs, this is due the fact that firefox in vista has different folders than in xp.
Does someone know what can I do?
Thanks

FF 3.0.5 Malware Database size?

Tim Clark's picture

I'm thinking something may have changed since the first releases of FF3

Early reports were that the Malware Database was about 52MB fairly consistently.

In my using of FFP3.0.5 I am seeing , and others are reporting, much less. About 17-18 MB when both "attack sites" and "forgery" are selected .

tool->options->security 2nd and 3rd check boxes

Could folks who have those setting on give some feed back.
Something may have changed, and if so we should know.
It would be good news if they have found a way to make it smaller

PFF 3.1 Beta 2 - Stops Downloading After Crash

Submitted by EwanG on December 25, 2008 - 5:00pm

Possibly the weirdest error I've ever seen. I was closing PFF 3.1 beta 2 last night, and it crashed upon closing for no discernible reason. Since that crash, however, whenever I try to download something, I get an error that it can't find the "part" file in the Temp directory on my local hard drive. I cleaned that out just in case, but that didn't fix anything. In fact, I was surprised to see it was trying to use my local harddrive.

Any thoughts on fixes short of uninstall and reinstall? Known bug?
