Questions about Flash

Submitted by Anthony A on November 28, 2007 - 4:58pm

I just installed the Portable apps start menu and Portable Firefox and am very impressed. I can't believe I didn't do this sooner. Great job with this.

Any ways my question is about Flash. I read all the topics on the Portable Apps site and the many forum posts about Flash and Portable Firefox but they don't answer my problem/questions. I tried to install Flash as a extension from the link that was provided but it just didn't seem to work. So I tried the manual install of copying the Flash dll's from my regular Firefox and putting them in the

Can Someone Help Me Set TEMP Variable to RAMDISK

Submitted by jkemp on November 26, 2007 - 5:15pm

Hi,

We run firefoxPortable from a 512 RAMDisk. I need to set the TEMP variable to this RAMDisk. I searched and found a PortableFirefox Live .bat file but It wants to copy the entire distro to the temp drive. I already have a ramdisk that automatically loads a image file. I just need to set the temp variable to R:\TEMP when I start FirefoxPortable.

When I view a video report using flash within forefox it wants to download the file to my systems TEMP folder. If my system shutsdown before firefox exits these files remain.

I'm new and have a question about security

The way I understand certificate handling, it's done by the operating system, if that is not true, please tell me. But if it is, and I use portable firefox to log onto my bank's site, can't malware on the host machine make the valid certificate look invalid? Also, about the host's hosts file, the file stating what URL is attributed to what IP address, can't a malformed hosts file point your bank.com to a bad guy's IP address and then make the invalid certificate look valid based on the beginning of the question?

Portable Firefox and Orbit Downloader

Submitted by Regve on November 24, 2007 - 11:13pm

Hello all,

first of all I would like to thank you for this great app (Portable Firefox)!

I've gotten everything to work besides Orbit Downloader. This includes copying the Quicktime dll files etc. etc.

Now the problem:
Whenever I click on a download link, after I installed Orbit Downloader, I don't get the option to download with Orbit. Orbit Downloader doesn't appear in the context menu either.

However, with the regular Firefox, everyting works.

Is there anything I can do to get Orbit Downloader to work with Portable Firefox?

shared profile Windows XP and PCLinuxOS

I use portable Firefox on a stick and also on a dual boot machine with a shared drive. Everything works fine except for one little annoying detail. Whenever I open Firefox in PCLOS I have to re-check the checkbox in options/advanced/general to always use autoscrolling. It stays set for Windows but not for Linux.
