Firefox Portable

I work at a company that does not permit access to the Internet. There are a handful of sites that are unblocked. As you can imagine, it makes for a long day not having the Internet. Anyway, I used to have FF port on my PC, but the IT department kept ratting me out to my Boss. At work we use a program called putty.exe. In the past I changed the name of the firefoxportable.exe to putty.exe to get it to run. With all this being said, I need my Internet back. The IT department blocked the use of USB devices, but the cd drive works. I need to run FF port from a cd with the name changed to putty.exe. The problem is, I do not know how to change the .ini file to get it to work. Here is what I have (below). If anyone has ant suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

As of Version 2.0 Firefox seems to have implemented some new kind of supper-cookie which is enabled by default and able to store more info than the usual cookies. It can be switched off in the about:config only (dom.storage.enabled to "false").

Maybe it would be a good idea to disable it in the portable version by default due to privacy reasons?

I haven't had any problems with any versions of Firefox Portable 2.0 before but now when I opened the browser I was surprised to see the default theme loaded, so I went to look for my original one in the themes part but it's not there anymore. What's more is that a lot of my extensions also disappeared and some just suddenly became "Not compatible" with FF 2.0 which is strange because they were working before. I haven't updated FF 2.0 and I don't think there's even an update yet so I'm clueless. When I try to find updates for extensions and themes it doesn't find anything.

If it helps, just before this happened (45 minutes ago) I pulled out my USB without safely removing hardware thing because it tells me it can't be stopped, which happens occasionally and I did that many times before but nothing bad happened.

The directions say to copy the content of the profiles directory to the profiles on the ffp portable, but my directory structure look NOTHING like the example where I'm supposed to copy from...........

I'm running ff 1.5.0.7, and the 'default' directory has NO files, just 3 subdirectories that contain nothing remotely like what's supposed to copy. The directories are Cache.Trash, chrome & extensions...............the pff obviously is 2.x.

I'm at a loss at this point.............I really ONLY care about my password files, as I know I can export/import the bookmarks.

I'm running win xp pro for both versions, pff & ff, and pff is on a usb key, setup for local operation to minimize wear & tear on the key.

I just downloaded the suite which is quite cool and have had my first play with firefox 2.0 which is very nice, the only problem I am having is that when I save a page or download something, the downloads window pops up but it is always empty, is it broken or is there a setting that has been turned off? I installed the new firefox 2 portable and so far everything works except the tooltips on the gmail manager extension. As far as I can tell it is just the tooltips for that extension that do not work. I am going to install and test the forecast fox extension to see if the tooltips work for that extension.

Is this a Firefox 2 problem, a firefox 2 portable problem, a gmail manager problem. or a combination?

Edit: I installed forecast fox and the tooltips for that extension are not working either. It looks like the tooltips for the status bar are not working in portable firefox 2.

Does anyone will help me??
I use Firefox Portable in my 512 MB USB, why every time i use it, it being freeze about 5 -10 second. So i must wait for few second to continue browse..

I disabled Adblock Filterset.G, FireFTP, Free Download Mgr. and still can't download anything from PortableApps.com. Had to use IE7 to download PortableApps Suite Basic and the other PortableApps as well. Tried both Ff2.0 and Ff 2.0 Portable. Tried Ff Safe Mode and was able to download Apps from PortableApps.com.

Thought I'd share this problem.

I'm not having download problems at other sites using Ff 2.0. Haven't had this problem in the past either, before Ff 2.0. The only new extensions I've added since Ff 2.0 is FreFTP.
When I try and download, the downloader starts and then it stops saying:

I recently installed Firefox Portable 2.0, having used Firefox Portable for almost a year now. With this new version, I noticed that when I close the program and then open it again, any changes I have made to the layout of Firefox is reset. For example, Firefox always opens in a smaller window, not maximized as I had it before closing. Another example, any changes I made to the toolbars (getting rid of the bookmarks toolbar, in particular) are undone when I reopen. I tried disabling all my extensions, but this still did not fix the problem.

When I installed 2.0, I copied my profile from my old Firefox directory to the new.

I gave a glance but not a hardy look through Mozilla site looking for info about the tittle of this thread. At first i did not notice this issue but i seem to see it more and more and it is a tad odd. Whenever I open a page like here or on another forum or any site i visit. If it is longer than can be displayed on the screen and has to be scrolled if I scroll down and click a link it brings right back up to the top of the page. A tad annoying if you are looking at a 50 post thread on a single window and click a link near the bottom and have to scroll back down to click it again to open it.
