Firefox Portable

addons etc are installed local

Submitted by Suriv on September 2, 2007 - 7:46am

It seems like all addons are installed in %APPDATA%: when I start FF Portable for the first time, it creates a directory %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox, and it saves all addons, passwords, ... in this directory.

I installed FF Portable, installed all addons etc on one computer, but when I try to run FF Portable on another computer, no addons are installed at all.

This is not really what I had in mind for a "portable" app. :S

Arggh! FF has just lost ALL my settings/addons etc

Submitted by perthmetro on September 1, 2007 - 10:52am

My firefox portable on my hard drive has just crapped itself. I ran it as usual but it ran the default config as if I had just installed it... now i've 'lost' all my settings,add-ons,passwords etc. I take it they would still be around somewhere but how would get back my custom config!

Thanks soooo much

Pete

I know! back-up!

Not portable?!?

Submitted by ficod on August 31, 2007 - 6:17am

I've found that Firefox Portable creates the following:

%appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\pluginreg.dat

%userprofile%\Impostazioni locali\Dati applicazioni\Mozilla\Firefox\FirefoxPortable\App\firefox\updates\0

Any workaround?

TorPark?

Submitted by ConraDarg0 on August 31, 2007 - 4:33am

Can I install TorPark and use it with PortableApps? I found a LOT of comments on TorPark when searching the forum, but no concrete information on the subject - it was all just a big mess...

Firefox and Windows vista issue

Submitted by Serenity1981 on August 30, 2007 - 1:58pm

I running the latest portable firefox and when i use it in vista it alwya creats a folder named Mozilla under
c:/users/%username%/Appdata/Roaming

Is this something where i can create a batch file to remove the Dir? and if that is the case does a normal install of firefox use a folder at the same location?

If so i don't want the batch file to remove anything that was there be for i ran the portable version.

Using Java Portablizer with Firefox Portable

Submitted by hands on August 29, 2007 - 9:56am

There are specific instructions for use and a link to get the Java Portablizer in conjunction with OOoPortable. Now that Java can be made somewhat portable, it would be beneficial for FirefoxPortable to also use the portable version.

Is anything being done about this? I realize that Firefox currently looks for a registry entry, but it would be beneficial if this behavior could be modified.

Firefox and Thunderbird - access denied?

Submitted by ConraDarg0 on August 29, 2007 - 7:36am

Hey everyone!

I brought PortableApps to work today mainly because the Adobe Reader I have installed here cannot open anything that contains Japanese letters, which Sumatra PDF Portable was able to fix *yay* Smile

Unfortunately, something seems to be blocking Firefox Portable and Thunderbird; the fist application giving me an Access denied ("FW-1 at cid-ext-b") error while the second just eventually times out of after trying to connect to the server.
