IMAP with TBP

Submitted by PilotBill on October 29, 2007 - 2:07pm

Any thoughts on IMAP versus POP with TBP, a question I am asking because Gmail now offers a choice? I want to use the best, most reliable protocol but the advantages of IMAP seem moot if you’re using a portable email client. Furthermore, would I be giving up offline accessibility?
Thanks, Bill

write crash bang boom

Submitted by linwenli on October 29, 2007 - 10:22am

AVG free version detected AZB startup page trojan for several days when I opened and closed Thunderbird Portable on PC. Write function no longer works. AVG no longer detects trojan. I have no other problems with my PC, just with Thunderbird Portable. I have reinstalled latest version, but it does not solve the problem. I do not want to switch email programs. Any advice? Thank you.

Today's virus definition file (5150) for McAfee VirusScan detect registry.dll as a "Generic StartPage.r" when I start Thunderbird Portable 2.0.0.6; I'm pretty sure it's a false detect, I'll submit the case to McAfee and keep everyone posted here...

NB : I might forget, so if someone faster than me has info, please feel free to update this thread.

how to select gpg key in enigma thunderbird

Submitted by ottosykora on October 22, 2007 - 2:03am

How is one supposed to select the correct public key in the gpg enigma thunderbird?

There seems to be no dialog or similar way to select propper key, it looks that just some key or perhaps the first key having similar text string to the mail address is selected.
This is not very useful, how to deal with cases when I have more recipients with similar name or one recipient with more then one key?

Inbox dissappeared

I run my Thunderbird on a 4GB USB Drive. I just use it as a way to transport my emails. The problem I had is that all of a sudden Inbox dissapeared. What I did 1st was to check if the USED SPACE on the drive changed, and It didnt. I just have 2 folders where I save mails. One is "Inbox" and the other is "Sent".

Inbox's size was 520 MB
Sent's size was (and still is) 250 MB
