Is there a plug-in or feature in existence where I can see how many characters are in the message I'm composing?
They could go so far as to show total chars, and just the chars on the current line (with position) as well. But that may be wishful thinking.
The reason I'm wanting this is that I often use Tbird to send text messages to cell phones. I want to keep under the character limit.
Thunderbird displays the following message at the bottom of the window. How do i stop this from displaying?
menu id="offlineMenuItem" insertafter="trashMenuSeparator" label="&offlineMenu.label;" accesskey="----^
Hi Guys,
I'm not sure if it is already logged as a bug (with mozilla) but there seems to many posts on different forums about the fact that accepting email invitations in TB does not work when hitting the "accept" button.
What worked for me is to simply drag the .ics attachment onto the calendar pane on the right-hand side. The appointment then pops up and you can then save it. (It does not always seem to work the first time though...)
I use TBP 2.0.0.14 and lightning extension 0.8.
I hope this helps.
Regards
Paul
Hi,
Another question by me:
Can i start Thunderbird Portable with command-line parameters? I want to create a shortcut, which open Thunderbird directly in Calender-View (Lightning extension).
According to the FAQ it should be something like:
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -calendar
I tried that with the ThunderbirdPortable.exe, but I didn't succeed.
Any ideas?
Thx, atreiju.
Hi,
This could be a little bit off topic, but i thought maybe someone here can help me with this:
I'm looking for a Desktop-Search engine, which is compatible with Thunderbird Portable (so it can index emails and adressbook).
I've tried Windows Desktop Search with the old addon from citeknet.com, I've tried Copernic Desktop Search and Google Desktop. But nothing worked.
Does anyone know, how to get this done?
Thanks! atreiju
hello
when i try to send a message, i got the error
Sending of message failed.
Unable to open the temporary file. Check your 'Temporary directory' setting.
i use the english version 2.0.0.14, installed on a korean xp home sp3
When in accounting settings, Local Folders-- Local directory is ../Mail/Local Folders, my mail folders under this Local Folders show mail.
When ../Mail is the Local directory instead of Local Folders, the mail folders won't show any mail.
But I've several accounts whose folders are parallel with Local Folders. I can't view them in TBP any more, because Local Folders is the top root folder.
Prior to this, I could view all my accounts' folders parallel to Local Folders.
I wonder if someone knows how to get it to work?
Thanks.

I'm not looking to make any trouble here. I was using a 1.x version of Thunderbird Portable (1.5 I think) and it worked great. Today I did a clean install of TP 2.0.0.14 (deleted 1.x and installed 2.0.0.14) and it's just not working out.
Can I still get my hands on an installer for 1.x?
I tried to open TB portable, but instead of the familiar prompt to ask me to enter my master password, it asks me to create either an email or newsgroup account.
I checked the data path and all my local mail folders are there, but it seems that the account profiles are corrupted or messed up.
I wonder if this is a known issue? Any way to get out of it to recover my account settings?
My TB portable is version 2.0.0.14 (20080421).
Thanks.
