Filters using custom headers not working?

Submitted by Mover on August 22, 2007 - 7:56am

Hi,

I've been using TB for U3 without any problems but now I installed TB portable on a disk and I've encountered a problem with the filters:

When I specify custom headers to filter my mail on, and I use them, the filters are not executed. While, when using standard headings, they are.

Is there a known problem with the filters in TB portable? Is somebody else having this problem? I've posted my question to other forums and there people responded they do not have the problem...

Thunderbird Vista problems - Help!

Submitted by cjuzda on August 20, 2007 - 8:36pm

I downloaded Thunderbird U3 and it runs fine on my XP machine. When I try to run it on a Vista machine, after asking for permission twice I get an error message saying it cant find the exe. This is a serious problem for me. The other more stupid (on my part) thing is that I set up TB to handle all my mail but made the dumb mistake of moving all my yahoo and gmail to the usb with Thunderbird and the originals were deleted. Is there a quick way of getting these back into Yahoo or Gmail (I doubt it).

Upgrade from v1.5.0.12 to v2.0.0.6 screwup

Submitted by mikeh2 on August 20, 2007 - 8:09pm

Environment:
Windows XP up to date on patches
Thunderbird NOT installed
Thunderbird portable version 1.5.0.12 being used daily for email

Then:
Upgraded to Thunderbird version 2.0.06 and everything, except for the address book, got screwed up.

I followed the upgrade instructions below, as found on this site, but they seem to be wrong. This seems to be old, written for upgrades within version 1, before there was a version 2.

For Eudora User...Add a little Eudora to your Thunderbird

Submitted by DaveI on August 20, 2007 - 7:15pm

As you may or may not know...Qualcomm has stopped updates of Eudora....

Some of the developers of Eudora over the years are working on
an open source version of Eudora...Presently called PENELOPE...

An actual alpha of Penelope has not yet been released (Maybe a couple of more weeks).
You can however download the Penelope extension for Thunderbird to add
a little bit of Eudora to your Thunderbird now...

Download the .xpi extension here and install in your Thunderbird if you want
to have some of Eudora look and feel back...

T-bird+Enigmail+gnupg

Submitted by reblyell on August 20, 2007 - 7:45am

I recently upgraded to:
T-bird 2.0.0.6 Portable.
Enigmail 0.95.3
GnuPG 1.4.7

I am not entirely sure whether this is a T-Bird problem or not, but it started after upgrading to the newest T-Bird Portable.
I have all the above on my USB flash drive.
OpenPGP preferences point to GnuPG in k:\gnupg\gpg.exe
Key manager will not see my keys on k:\ instead it is creating a new keyset in C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\gnupg

I did not have this problem with previous releases.

ThunderbirdPortable.exe

Submitted by roysv on August 20, 2007 - 5:18am

After Starting Thunderbird from the menu, ThunderbirdPortable.exe is still running.
Is this normal? When looking at Firefox, it's not like that.

I tried to restart Thunderbird to see if it was just a one time show off, but not - ThunderbirdPortable.exe is still hanging as a process after starting Thunderbird.exe

I'm running version 2.0.0.6

Does not log in to Newsserver, does not ask for password

Submitted by L.Willms on August 17, 2007 - 10:11am

I have registered for the CNNTP.ORG Newsserver, and this requires authentification with user-id and password.

The login is rejected. Portable Thunderbird does not ask me for a password and I see no way to configure a password.

I know that this is probably not specific to the PortableApps version of Thunderbird, but I have this beast installed only to have access to a newsreader.

Or does somebody know some other newsreader which can be used in the Portable way, i.e. without needing anything from the PCs registry, SYSTEM32 etc, and not leaving traces on the PC?

Cheers,
L.W.

Moving TP folder it loses some "piece" of profile

Submitted by luis69 on August 16, 2007 - 6:49pm

Hello,

a couple of weeks ago I decided to move from Eudora to Thunderbird Portable.

As a first step I installed it on my internal D: drive.

For the last two weeks I've been using TP, learning about it and tuning it for my needs.

Today I've decided to move it to my USB flash drive (M: is the drive letter). I've simply copied the full D:\"myPath"\ThunderbirdPortable\ folder to M:\"anotherPath"\ThunderbirdPortable\

Then I launched the application from the new location. Something strange happens, it looks like it doesn't keep the full profile.
