Thunderbird Portable

I have the Lighting calendar add-on in my Thunderbird portable. In the past, when I received an email that was an invitation to an event, I would click the Accept button, and the event would populate the appropriate day on my Lightning calendar. However, this past week, when I accepted an event, instead of populating Lightning, it populate the calendar provided by my email service, Outlook on the web (specifically, Office 365 Business Essentials).

for some reason the download always fails.
I manually downloaded the paf (because I gave up on the automatic update after a week of trying) from: https://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/files/Mozilla%20Thunderbir...
and i'm getting an error that it can not be executed.
i'm using windows 10 64bit

I think it was an update around mid August that broke my current TB Portable copy on an external HDD.
When I logged in it tried to start everything off as a full newbie - no existing profile, emails, etc.
After some research I tried starting the app with a "-profile but that didn't work.

I plan to migrate from Outlook Express, Thunderbird is one of the candidates.
My computer is old, OS XP, and I format it with frequency, then a portable software would be very convenient.
The problem is that I just download the portable Thunderbird here in portableapps and installed, clean program is consuming around 160MB, even after disabled Lightning and offline mode.
When I run it, open two applications in the task manager, thunderbird.exe (~ 160MB) and ThunderbirdPortable.exe (~ 6MB).

Subject: From where besides Default Programs, and besides under Options, Advanced, Config Editor, is ThunderbirdPortable finding FirefoxPortable?
This is about Thunderbird 45.3.0, not Firefox. Just so you know, I asked this first of Mozilla and was told in full: "Thunderbird passes the hyperlink to the operating system to the default handler (Browser) anything else is portable apps magic." So here I am at the magical PortableApps.

My message filters seem to have stopped working since I was prompted for, and installed, update 45.3.0. I have tried running them manually to no effect. Is there possibly a bug in this upgrade? Or, is there something else I can try in order to get them working again.

Hi. I'm using version 45.2.0 of Thunderbird for Portable Apps. I began a long discussion at mozilla support but nothing where solved. The last post suggest me to look here for help.

Currently using Outlook Express under XP; being obliged to change OS, I am thinking to use Thunderbird; two needs:

1. I have all my OE mail (folders / account/ etc) in an encrypted file I carry on my keyring-attached USB drive, so I can use all of my mail at home, office, everywhere...

2. I only like Thunderbird 2.0.0.4; (tried newer version and didn't like them).

How can I make the same life with Thunderbird?

I have Thunderbird 45.2.0 Portable Apps version installed on a USB2 device that contains a SSD drive.

I run Kaspersky A-V on Windows 7, both fully updated. I have no plans to install Windows 10...ever.

When I load Thunderbird off the PortableApps Launcher or even by directly executing the "portable" wrapper exe, the program starts to consume memory...and eventually lots of it.

Having been a long standing fan of Portable apps and Portable Thunderbird, I now find that it is crashing all the time.
It is the latest version (sorry, can't fell you which one it is since it is freezing shortly on loading).
I admit, the overall size of the application has increased to 4 GB since I move all the IMAP folders into a local Thunderbird folder that serves as my 'store' of emails on my SD card (leaving my IMAP email with more space).
I don't know what I am doing wrong.
Besides, am I right in reading that Mozilla have now discontinued support to TB?
