1) Lost my messages on upgrading from Thunderbird 2. Folders all there but no messages.

2) Found my messages after restarting on another machine. Go Figure.

3) One annoyance remains. I have a pop mailbox, so must reset my smtp server as I go from machine to machine. It's OK to reset as I go to send my Email, fair enough, however what is annoying is when I get my Emails and the sender has asked for a return read receipt.

Unable to send emails, able to receive emails

Hi

I have always been using Thunderbird 3 on my Vista machine. Bought a new laptop that came with Windows 7 Starter version.

Realised that whenever it on the new machine (Windows 7 starter), TB cannot receive emails (error message : An error occurred with the POP3 mailserver. Mail server pop.winetatler.com responded: ) , but it is able to send emails. Thought that the program got corrupt, so plugged it out and tried it on my Vista machine. It worked perfectly in sending and receiving emails.

Unable to write body in Email message nor Reply to Message

I am using the latest version of Thunderbird Portable (3.0.3)on a USB Flash Drive. This evening - I suddenly was unable to reply to a message. The cursor will not show in the body and the original message no longer shows. I also was unable to write a new message - again the cursor will not show in the body. I have not installed any new themes, plugins. I reinstalled Thunderbird (I did not uninstall the old (3.0.3) version first?) - I was able to write one test Email and then the problem started again. I do not know how to get the Portable version to run in safe mode.

Problem sending mail (an SSL OR TLS problem?)

Hello,

I installed Thunderbird portable 3.0.3 on my USB disc, copied mail files in the relevant folder, adjusted account and server settings as they were. Everything looks fine, I can receive e-mails without a problem, but I can not send any. The only difference with the conventional Thunderbird settings for outgoing server is unified option for SSL/TLS for connectio security in TBP while they are separate options in TB. Error message is 'connection time out with SMTP server'.

Vista problem

Thunderbird Portable is running well on Windows XP. I get back with POP protocol my gmail messages on my USB stick. Everything is ok when I want to read offline my emails on XP.

When I want to read them on Vista, I got this message after launching TBportable.exe :

Thunderbird hangs on: Determining which messages to Index

Submitted by tom.forrester@b... on March 23, 2010 - 4:16am

When Thunderbird starts up it hangs on "Determining which messages to Index" and fails to load any mail.
The account settings are still displayed but no mail.

I am concerned about not do anything that will stop me recovering the data!

I can read other data from the flash drive OK.

Can anyone recommend a procedure so that I can at least recover my mail?
