Thunderbird Portable

Auto Updating

Submitted by kaspaas on February 12, 2007 - 10:07am

Hi,

I started using TB portable today - works great!

It popped a screen telling me a newer version of TB was available.

As it was not the latest PortableAp I did not do the upgrade.

What would have happened if I did the auto upgrade?

I guess this is a kind of bug - AutoUgrading should refer to the latest Portable Ap available and not the latest TB available.

Thanks

How can I add apps that I have ALREADY INSTALLED to the PA Menu?

Submitted by normington on February 12, 2007 - 8:23am

I've got a few portable apps already installed onto my USB flash drive, and I've just downloaded and installed the base of the PA Suite. How do I add ones that I have already installed (e.g TB) into the menu? I don't want to reinstall them because there are settings and data I don't want to lose - like emails in TB.

lost all filters

Submitted by Miles on February 8, 2007 - 5:16am

A week ago for some reason that I don't recall a window appeared to the effect that the filters for mail to the folder "inbox" subfolder "me" would be inactivated. The next day I added the "x" to that filter, and the same the following day. The third day, all filters were missing and the msg filters file was reduced to 1kb.

Today copied the msgfilter file from a backup thumb drive (14kb) and all is fine.

In years of using TB & prior nuances have never had this occur on the desktop. Question what causes this and how to prevent it in the future.

Signature attachment path not relative to thunderbird portable *SOLVED*

Submitted by dopper on February 6, 2007 - 11:53am

Under Accounts, thunderbird portable allows you to attach an html file as a signature.

The signature attachment path isn't relative to thunderbird, so the drive letters change.

This is the only post I've found outlining the problem: https://portableapps.com/node/1900

Instead of using the drive letter, shouldn't the signatures be stored beneath ThunderbirdPortable\Data somewhere and when you attach the html document the path would be relative to that folder instead of including the full path with drive letter included?

Opening Links with Firefox

Submitted by klbollwahn on February 5, 2007 - 11:39am

Is there a way - OTHER than setting Firefox as the default browser - to open web links on messages in Portable Thunderbird in Portable Firefox? IE is the default browser on my work PC and I use my portable apps for personal email and browsing. I'd like to be able to click a link in a message I've received with Portable Thunderbird and have it open with Portable Firefox.

Thanks

NSTMP folders

Submitted by Miles on February 3, 2007 - 1:34am

A new twist. Have found several times over the past couple of days, new folders under Inbox called NSTMP and -1 and -2. These generally contain incoming msgs meant for "Me" folder in inbox,. But once "Me" disappeared and NSTMP-2 consisted of duplicates from "Pending" which also is under Inbox.

To correct the situation, had to move msgs to the appropriate folder, then delete NSTMP folder and sometimes that is difficult to delete. Has anyone experienced this and know of a prevention?
