Writing to folder failed.

Submitted by Nunhead_man on November 13, 2013 - 5:48am

I'm getting this error under Windows 7 Pro 64 bit using v24.1.0 ......

"The messages could not be filtered to folder 'Southwark_freecycle.org' because writing to folder failed. Verify that you have enough disk space, and that you have write privileges to the file system, then try again."

I've checked the properties and it was set to "read only" so changed that and its changed back - is this a new Windoze "feature"?

Local Directory Path

[v24.1.0] I am unable to make any changes to any account's server settings, because when I try to OK them, I get a message similar to the following:

The Local Directory path "N:\apps\7.Admin\Thunderbird\Data\profile\accounts\{account}" is not suitable for message storage. Please choose another directory.

I don't know when this issue started, since I haven't tried to make changes for months. Needless to say, all the accounts whose messages are stored in their 'not suitable' {account} folder work perfectly.

What is wrong with the path (now)? Why has in become 'not suitable'?

Copying my computer's entire TB profile into TB portable

Submitted by jbarrington on November 1, 2013 - 2:51pm

I'm using the full version of Thunderbird (v.24.1) on my computer, and the portable version on my USB drive. I'm using Win7 64 bit on my computer.

I've spent a day trying to copy my six email accounts, along with my contacts, current email and their folders, personal settings, and pluggins from my computer and into my portable version. I saw further down under the download link some brief instructions on how to do this within the FAQ area, but either I'm doing it incorrectly, the instructions are old, or the portable version doesn't have a way to utilize all of my transferred items.

which lightning do you use?

Submitted by ottosykora on October 30, 2013 - 4:30am

On the current Thunderbird the lightning seems to get updated and since then it doe not work.
In the list with the extensions, the Lightning is included, but the icon is missing.
No signs of any lightning otherwise.
This was the lightning 2.6.1

I tried then to install the previous version 2.6, but also this one does not seem to work, the calendar tab is empty, it seems not to be able to read the calendar file properly.

Anybody with some experience on this?

Portables Thunderbird hangs after upgrading to Mavericks

Submitted by kepler on October 23, 2013 - 10:25am

The early bird catches the worm? Not this time: I upgraded my MacBook Pro to OS X Mavericks just when it was released last night and since then Portable Thunderbird stopped working. It just hangs after being launched. Any other users affected by that? And more importantly: any idea how to solve the problem?

Someone mentioned this on IRC and I thought I'd put it here in the tracker:

OpenPGP PGP/GPG v1.4.15rev2 is accessing system's gpg (inside c:\program files\ instead of c:\portable folder), observing such, when i change some configuration inside OpenPGP's preference , advanced gpg commandline.

Havent tested it myself though.

Tb 24.0.1 Enigmatic...no mails offline!

Submitted by Salto on October 14, 2013 - 6:10am

Hi,

Tb installed on a flashdrive for using offline at home. Plugged it in the netbook, offline, could read the mails, but no pictures. Half an hour later no mails available, folders on the left-hand pane not longer existing! Where are the mails?
This Problem occurred several times. I deleted TB and everything else, installed again, for a short period ok-then...look above!

What might be the problem, and, of course, the solution of this riddle?
Thanks for reading this and your hints,
Salto

SOLVED: Thunderbird 24 crashes when adding an .xpi file

Submitted by EOBeav on October 2, 2013 - 9:26pm

I'm pretty sure I've narrowed this down to a bug with the PA version of TBird. It's crashing whenever I try to load in a new extension, in this case the Lightning and Google Provider extensions. I haven't been able to replicate it in the desktop version of TBird 24 that I downloaded directly from their website. That seems to work fine in Win7.

What happens is I go to Add-ons-->Install Add-on from File, then navigate to the .xpi file, the entire app freezes up when I hit 'add'.

Addendum: I've tried this on two different Win7 machines with the same results.
