Submitted by royb3 on May 28, 2009 - 5:47am

you will need dosbox portable. you can get it on portable apps.com in catagorie game.
if you have that you will need a image of your windows, i`ve a image of win95 and the name of that file is W95.img.
start dosbox
if your usb or drive is f: type mount d F:\
you have to copy your image to F:
then type F: you will see F:\> then
now type imgmount c "W95.img"(if your image has another name use that)
and type nog boot -l c
now win 95 or what`s on that image will start.

Lightscreen - saving configuration

Submitted by RowanC on May 26, 2009 - 2:36am

I'm lovin' this software - I now use it all the time at work, however, I'd really like it to save the last configuration used. Currently my version loses this info every time I quit.

I'd like to save: the last directory used for saving to save files, the number/name/timestamp settings, and the hotkeys & options used.

Is it something in the way this is setup / my setup, or is an intentional 'feature'?

Cheers,
Rowan.

InfraRecorder - Unreadable DVD problem

Submitted by JamesSoCal on May 25, 2009 - 12:15pm

Last night I burnt a compact disc (dvd) of 3 files I dragged into the lower Disc Layout window. The burn was made through Actions, Burn Compilation, to a Compact Disc... using: on the fly; Verify the disc after writing; Eject the disc after writing; Buffer underrun protection; Pad data tracks; Fixate the disc after writing. These were all checked on the General Tab page. On the Advance tab page only the Allow overburning was checked. The red bar at the bottom reflecting the space available v.

How to install Explorer plugin for Notepad++

Submitted by dderolph on May 18, 2009 - 8:50pm

I was using an older version of Notepad++ (portable) but lost my flash drive. That version had the Explorer plugin when it was originally installed. So, I did not know this feature was a plugin; I thought it was a standard feature.

Anyway, I just downloaded the latest version (5.3.1) and discovered it does not have the Explorer feature. And, I discovered I would need to download that as a plugin if I want it. So, I downloaded it.

How to make an NSIS launcher?

Submitted by 0per4t0r on May 12, 2009 - 9:41am

I wanted to make one of those NSIS launchers so I could use a few apps with the PortableApps Suite. There's a BASIC emulator I want to use, but the original exe is in the /bin folder of the app. I wanted to make an NSIS launcher to launch the exe within that folder. Does anyone know how?

Frets on Fire works with guitars

Been meaning to point this out for a while. If you plug a Guitar Hero guitar into a Windows XP (or newer) computer, it'll seek and actually find drivers for it - from there it's just another gamepad, albeit a funny-shaped one. It will then work with Frets on Fire after you configure it to read a gamepad instead of a keyboard.
