Hey Travis,

I don't know if this is the right page for this but wanted to let you know somehow. I'm not a professional tester or anything I just really like this portable apps concept and downloaded infarecorder. the version I downloaded was unable to do a straight copy of a non-copyrighted dvd. It kept saying to insert media or something wen the DVD was already in. It was a data disc which I had made that just had software and games on it.

GnuCash language problem

Submitted by Tino on March 30, 2008 - 5:31pm

GnuCash Portable running on a german system produces an ugly mix of german and english dialogs, help pages etc. I would like to tell the portable app to use english language only. In the non-portable version of GnuCash this can be done by adding the lines

set LANGUAGE=en_US
set LANG=en_US

before the command

start gnucash-bin %*

in the file gnucash.bat inside the bin folder (described here: http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Translation).

Gnucash checkbook register not showing

Submitted by Tweedboy6L6 on March 30, 2008 - 4:59pm

Has anyone else experienced this?

I had been using Quicken 2008 for the sole purpose of keeping a checkbook register. I've imported my QIF file in Gnucash. The checkbook register does not show at all. I have to go to Tools then General Ledger to see an advanced version of the checkbook register. Here I cannot add additional entries and the reconcile button is greyed out.

I deleted my Gnucash profile and re-imported my QIF and have the same results. I don't know if this is a program issue or this is my impatience and dislike of accounting coming into play.

missing icon...

Submitted by peanut on March 29, 2008 - 3:41am

I installed the portable apps suite onto my usb drive, after a while I realised I only used a couple of things on there and it was hogging a bit of space so I just deleted the whole folder. Now when I plug it into my computer it shows a broken icon and I can't change the name from PortableApps, it's just annoying and I was wondering if there was any way of fixing this?

Thanks in advance

Terrific! another portable app!..but this one worries me a little...it goes like this...I really have no idea about ports, and ma probably holding the wrong end of the stick here, but when I run GNUcash portable it 'requires' access to port 1060 on startup and port 1072 on closedown. If I don't give it access to this on startup, it ends with some obscure runtime error. On closedown it seems to want access to port 1072.
On starting Gnucash portable my firewall says something like
