Public key path in WinSCP Portable 4.03

Submitted by hugus on August 21, 2007 - 4:47pm

When using public key authentication, the launcher does not adapt the path to the key file. As a result, WinSCP does not find the key when the drive letter changes.

Workaround: manually remove the drive letter from the [Sessions\your_stored_session] section in winscp.ini, e.g. PublicKeyFile=H:%5CPortableApps%5CWinSCPPortable%5CData%5Csettings%5Cpublick_key.ppk

It is also worth nothing that changing the "configuration storage" preferences to the registry apparently deletes all the sessions that were previously stored in the ini file, there is no going back.

XAMPP which one is portable?

Submitted by invasion on August 17, 2007 - 1:23pm

Hi,

I would like to try the Basic package but there is an Installer (34 MB), a ZIP (80 MB), and an Exe (28 MB). Which one is the portable version? Should I install one of these packages in the root directory and after that download and install XAMPP Launcher 1.2 in PortableApps folder?

Thanks for your support.

How about Mulberry as PortableApp?

Submitted by L.Willms on August 15, 2007 - 6:27am

Mulberry is one of the best IMAP clients, developed where IMAP originated with the Cyrus IMAP server by the same Cyrus Daboo. It is now republished as a free application, the source is openly available ().

Would it work standalone from a USB drive, or would somebody care about converting it to a PortableApp or U3P?

I just started to use Voyager, the portable version of TheBat! (), but I'm not yet sure about the relative merits of both programs.

Cheers,
L.W.

EPIM

Submitted by gophert on August 15, 2007 - 12:58am

EPIM, a Personal Information Manager, is now available as a vanilla portable application. I've been running it from PA for a while now, and just thought I would show my newbieness and tell everyone what they already know.

To everyone who has posted answers to questions asked by others, and helped me....

Thank You.

John et al,

In experimenting with MPP I suddenly realized that I have run it several times today from the executable itself and not the launcher! Is there anything I need to clean up?

We still don't have a MPP forum so I am posting here, hope that's okay, if not please move to beta or where ever it belongs.

Thanks,

Tim

OmniPage Pro

Submitted by arjay67 on August 13, 2007 - 4:31pm

WooHoo! I attempted to use OmniPage Pro as a portable app and it works great. Ok, not a true portapp nor is it OS, but it runs just fine. Just copied the program folders from a machine that it was installed on to a flash drive and took it to another PC. Ran without a hitch.
