Bad News: Jury Duty

As most of you know, I've been stuck in jury duty this week. Unfortunately, I've been selected for the jury in a criminal case. It's full time every day about an hour from me and expected to last 1 to 2 weeks.

So, I'll be a bit out of the loop workwise. But, I'd still like to get an app a day out next week. I'll be working every night on PortableApps.com stuff while doing jury duty. I think as long as we have some of our experienced forum members and developers helping to vet the apps currently posted as development tests, we can do it.

Stolen PNotes

Submitted by lamer on January 25, 2008 - 7:21am

Hi all!
First of all I want to thank to all beta testing staff for helping me to release version 3.0 of PNotes!
Today, while surfing on sites where PNotes is published, I've happened to find out its clone from previous version named NotesRobot, which is offered for sell at _http://www.railfox.com by $20. The guys simply got my source code and recompiled it without changes under different name. Even the help file stayed the same. The only difference is that clicking on "Show License" on About dialog does not bring up the GPL file.

Looking for a desktop search

Hi!
I love portable apps! It so cool to use my apps everywhere without carrying my notebook around. And a new Windows-Setup is much faster, with installing all my favourite apps with one copy&paste Smile

Anyway, some things annoy me: the lack of (non portable) application, to handle portable applications!

For example: Launchy (my favourite starter) can't handle firefox portable bookmarks.

What's the name for that install-monitor-application?

Hi people. I've got a (silly?) question. Somewhere on this forum I read about people using a different installer than Windows Installer that remembers everything that's installed when you want to install an application on your computer. So it remembers registry changes, new folders, etc., you probably know what I mean.
Now, I've searched all over this forum and Google, and I'm not able to find it! Could anyone please tell me what kind of program(s) this/these are?

@ John - Clarification of the Self-Promotion section of the guidelines

If I understand the context of the current guidelines, one CAN post about their own software if it is under an OSI approved license and it is portable, or if somebody asks a question relating directly to that application. Is my understanding correct?

I ask because I plan to be writing a few apps in my spare time, they will be GPL or LGPL, and I would like to make them portable and PAF compliant. It will be some time before anything about these apps is posted, but when the time comes, I don't want to be accused of self-promoting.
