Folders coming up as EXE

Submitted by PeterSmith on February 2, 2015 - 2:40am

Hi

A friend gave me a flash disk with folders that are EXE. They were originally normal MP3 and Jpeg files inside the folders. I am not sure what happened and why they are now EXE but I would like to retrieve them. These folders are from 2004. Any idea why it happened and how it could be fixed.

Problems with Firefox / Thunderbird & Lightning

Has anybody else experienced problems with these two from FF 35.0 onward?

I'm not certain when the problems began, but sometime after the New Year I started having problems mainly with the two programs cited crashing. If I try to restart, they crash again. I asked at the Mozilla forums but nobody seemed to know very much about Portable Apps.

I have also had the same thing happen with GIMP and Inkscape which makes me think maybe there is a problem with the platform.

If I delete and reinstall the problem programs, they work once, or maybe twice without crashing.

PicPick 4.0.3 / 4.0.2 text editor won't remember Fill or color

Submitted by christina_a on January 23, 2015 - 9:52pm

Seems I'd have noticed something this annoying in earlier versions.
In same screen shot, adding multiple text boxes, PicPick doesn't remember the last choice for Solid Fill / No Fill. And every time I add a new text box, it ignores the currently selected background color, on the main toolbar.

But the text editor does remember font color selected (from text editor UI).

Thumb driver enumeration might be different on each machine -- how does Thunderbird find its profile?

Submitted by jlfranks on January 20, 2015 - 5:11pm

The .ini file for Thunderbird looks like this on machine #1.

[ThunderbirdPortableSettings]
AgreedToLicense=YES
LastProfileDirectory=F:\PortableApps\ThunderbirdPortable\Data\profile

The USB drive enumeration might be different on another machine.
Does this get handled in some way?
