General discussions of portable apps and news.
Da question.
I'm interested in giving away engraved USB keys with Portableapps Platform to special customers as a gift.
Is the Suite installed in the PA-Companion placed in a ROM or is it deletable by my customers (not apreciated)?
If it is simply preinstalled in the FLASH part and as I'm located in Germany, could I simply buy some blank USB keys an install a PA-Platform with preselected programs suitable for them?
And: Would it be a problem with engraving the German Umlauts (ä, ö, ü)?
I have version 11.2 and I need help in removing "Music" from my main menu.
I have read back issues on this and from what I can tell, the information is outdated.
Is there a way to remove it?
I am using this as a utility tool at work and I believe if IT was to see "music" they would think it non-work related.
Thanks ahead for any suggestions.

I concur with "beeje"'s comment.
To support PortableApps which I and colleagues use (in addition to donating), I have bought some of these Carbides to give as gifts, but it has blown up in my face and I am now scrambling to support what should have been a trouble-free gift.
1. On page https://store.customusb.com/info/ is the following:

I'm looking for a way to change the location of the autorun.inf file so that the portable apps platform can still 'read' its contents. Currently this file is in the main area of my flashdrive, but for sake of organization I'd rather it be in the portable apps folder. Is there a file I can change to alter the location of autorun.inf?
so im trying to make winamp portable i was trying to do so with this tutorial
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-make-a-portable-version-of-winamp-fo...
but seems it did not work
cause winamp have 2 folders
1st where winamp is stored
(this folder contains all winamp files and can be anywhere)
2nd where winamp settings are stored
(C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Winamp
this folder contains winamp settings and if its not there winamp will create it by it self)
Just wanted to say thanks John for the Christmas gift.....Next question is how did you manage to sneak it in? I loved it when I found it!!!!!!!!!
In case everyone thinks me daft I do not remember it being there LOL
recently i found software called cameyo
which motto is "application should be used, not installed" which make sens
well anyway here is some retarded video of it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7w5GMsi8xc
in short of it this software lets you make application portable if you have installation package of it
i want to ask what you guys think of it
i made winamp portable and from 35mb it haves now 105mb but is now portable i dont need to extract anything to %appdata% for it to work on clean pc
Just curious if its possible to map the PA Documents folder to my SkyDrive (C:\Users\username\SkyDrive) while also keeping local copies just in case I don't have internet access? This would be impractical if I used many different computers with many different account names. But, I'm only using two machines (work and home) and have my user name the same on both so there should not be a mapping issue. The reason I ask is because I save everything to my thumbdrive and then do dumps over to my Skydrive for backup.
