Truecrypt traveler and Autostart on Windows 7 Help please?

Submitted by trainingwheels2010 on September 28, 2010 - 12:21pm

Yesterday I installed the a Truecrypt Traveler and Portable Apps
platform on m Sandisk Cruzer U3 Flash Drive. I have a few questions
about proper configuration as well as some comments.

1.) The autoloader for the Truecrypt Traveler password screen loads
on insert on our Windows XP machines at work, but does not load on
my Windows 7 machine at home. On Windows 7 I get an Options
menu which may mean that teh OS is somehow circumventing the
auto load feature on the Truecrypt Traveler. Do you know of a way of
getting Windows 7 to recognize the autoloader?

RSS Feed not automatically updating

Submitted by CarlosCastaneda on September 27, 2010 - 9:56am

Hi all,

I just search the forum and found some entries concerning RSS feed not updating automatically. But there was no solution so far. It's some days ago I started to add the portableapps.com RSS feed. If I reload the feed dynamic manually all works fine. But it's not downloded automatically. I've several other feeds that all work (checked it with wireshark).

I'm using the latest version of FF 3.6.10 on 2 different boxes with 2 different OS (XP and Win7) seeing the same behaviour.

Is there a solution?

Thanks.

Ok here is my situation and what I mean by the title.

I have a friend and a family member that like me use Pidgin. Both of them are not very techy and guiding them step by step on how to download, install and activate plugins for pidgin can sometimes be a nightmare. I have even written the steps-by-steps on a TiddlyWiki for them to have access to even without having to access the web, and they still do it wrong.

Putty and Pageant automation

Submitted by mlun on September 21, 2010 - 3:38pm

Everytime I start Windows I have to do this tedious work:
1) Start Pageant.exe
2) Add a key to pageant (locate file, choose it, key in password. Enter)
3) Start Putty.exe
4) Select, Load and open the session needed.

Puh!!

Just wonder if someone has bothered to find a way to automate this, but haven't been able to locate a solution. Most threads are 2-3-4 years old, so seemingly no-one is any longer logging in to their servers using SSH!?

USB 'boot' menu

Submitted by keetoe on September 21, 2010 - 3:25am

Not sure if this is the right category to post into, but I have done some homework on this issue....help! ok.

I need a bootable menu for a usb device holding all bootable[only] applications, like OSs et al.

Please advise of ~ easiest solution to this. I have problems with command lines and using cmd lines trying to set this up. Looked at Grub4dos, but, still no better.

hopefully, Thanks

Does portable apps make less USB drive read/write access that the original app ?

Submitted by jokoon on September 20, 2010 - 10:25am

Hello, I'm learning game programming at school, and I want to use my USB drive to store my work etc.

I wanted to know that if for example the portable putty or portable notepad++ do less memory access than the original programs, so it doesn't make unnecessary memory access when using the executable, launching it directly when it's on the USB drive...
