VOB to x264 video encoder

Submitted by horrormaster34 on August 8, 2007 - 9:13pm

I need a new portable program to encode VOB (DVD files) to x264 files. I used to use MediaCoder, but now it isn't portable since you need a copy of Visual C++ installed otherwise you get an error when trying to start the program. I've tried SUPER, but it never loads when I try to start the program.

Licenses

Submitted by www.LukeFranklin.com on August 8, 2007 - 7:48pm

I am a VB.Net programmer and I have created a few programs that are available for download, I was wondering about licensing my software.

I want to know what license is best for me and how much it will cost(Hopefully nothing)

I want my software to be free for download but users must be unable to change and alter to software legally!

I also don't want to be liable for any damage caused by the program if that were to ever happen.

Question about Password protection, encryption and 7zip

I have a question to you programmers...

You know that encryption need access rights so it is not really portable...

But everybody is requesting to password protect info in Pdrives...

So, is it posible to have portableapps and documents folders in a password protected 7zip file and when launching the Pmenu ask for password automatically, open the 7zip run apps, etc, and when closing, save changes in the password protected 7zip, erase the opened one with a secure deleter automatically (and then eject the drive)?

Wierd probem with Vista and UFD.

I have two sticks I use, a 1GB and a 2GB. The 1GB was always just a stick. The 2GB one is a Memorex TravelDrive U3 that I used the removal tool on to remove the U3 system (good riddance!). With the 1GB I never have the following problem, ever. With the former U3 drive (2GB) intermittently when plugging it into a Vista machine Vista complains that the drive must be formatted to be used. However, it works fine. It just does not use the autorun.inf. Sometimes it works fine. I even backed up my drive once and let Vista format it, made no difference.

Please continue the discussion there

I'm putting up a thread so we can discuss the apps to include in the next release of the PortableApps.com Suite. All versions include what will be referred to as the PortableApps.com Platform (menu, backup, custom icons, autorun). The Standard package currently includes:

Start.PortableApps.com Website Is Live

Just wanted to post a note that I set start.portableapps.com live today. The menu links to it when you select to Search the Web. It's a simple page similar to the default Firefox homepage that allows you to search Google. PortableApps.com gets a share of all ad revenue generated by searches done through the page.

So, if you'd like to set it as your homepage, that would be cool, too Smile

I have just noticed something a bit disturbing: not only are my portableapps.com account details open to anyone who wants to see them, but any search engine is free to index them!

Please, restrict the access to account information to people logged in, or at least set those pages not to be indexed (either using robots.txt or the <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow"> tag).

Thanks
