Can Someone Please Explain This To Me And Why In The World Does This Have A Trogan In It..... :|
Hi,
First of all, I would like to thank John for these marvelous apps.
This morning however, when I plugged my usb stick into my computer I got notified by the antivirus program on the local machine that two files are infected with the trojan "Troj/Zlob-ADU". The 2 files were: VirtualDubPortable.exe and EraserPortable.exe. The 2 files were automatically deleted.
Did anyone else have this problem?
Help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
D.
It appears that the portable version doesn't handle command lines appropriately (not sure it was inteneded to do so - but I thought I'd report it in case your intent was to do so). I was attempting to take audio from a DVD so I could create an audio CD. Essentially converting the AC3 audio to WAV. I saw where MPlayer's command line would let me do this and using the following works to get the audio from the first chapter of a DVD when using Mplayer:
E:\PortableApps\MPlayerPortable\App\mplayer\mplayer -vc dummy -vo null -af resample=44100:0:0 -ao pcm:file=foo.wav -chapter 1-1 dvd://1
I'm new to PortableApps and very excited to find such a well-organized community of easily useable apps -- thanks to the developers and supporters!
The only questions I can't seem to answer easily are those involving security. I've been searching the forums with little success, so forgive me if my questions have already been answered. (If they have, please give links -- and please consider a Guide or something so that new users can find this info easily!)
I'd just like to bring attention to this program. Xion is one of the best looking audio player i've ever seen. it's not open source though, but then it's already portable. you can find it here. remember to go to the skins section to get the skins.i'd recomend the Alexis one.
Will these apps run on an AT&T 8525 running OS Mobile 5? I'm about ready to purchase the phone and I already use many of the full blown versions of the software available.
Thanks for the help.

I know this might not be completely related to PortableApps, but I don't think it's too off-topic either, so I've put it here.
I've noticed nobody's mentioned this, and it looks like it just came out this month, I find this decent utility to sync folders and such, and it actually suggests using if to sync files from your PC to flash drive.
I know there's many Sync utilities out there, and I know Toucan has some functions built in, but this program is just for syncing, and I know it could be handy for many people, so I just wanted to mention it.
Hi;
First of all I want to congratulate you for this great work and effort. We are distributor of BigBoy branded USB Flash drives in Turkey. We sell our flash drives to technology shops and other computer markets. I am also a PortableApps user and it’s realy good application for USB flash drives. Actually we would like to distribute your application suite in our flashdrives. Could you please give us more information about distribution options. I sent 2 messages to [EMAIL ADDRESS REMOVED] but noone respond.
Can anyone helpme about it ?
Hello,
Everyone, I am curious about why when I plug in my USB stick (Lexar 1gb sport) that it does not just start PAM right away? This is what the autorun.inf looks like:
[Autorun]
Open=PortableApps\PortableAppsMenu\PortableAppsMenu.exe
Action=Start PortableApps
Icon=PortableApps\PortableAppsMenu\PortableAppsMenu.exe
Label=PortableApps
and when I look to ensure that those directory paths exist and the file is there, it is. So why doesn't it start? Any help would be appreciated.
In a SCIFI.COM newsletter there was an article that decried the inablitliy for a iPOD to phone home. The tack being that if it was stolen you could track it down and get it back. http://blog.scifi.com/tech/archives/2007/08/16/shift_how_apple.html
In an earlier article there was a service that offered this, originally for free, but now it is a yearly charge. http://blog.scifi.com/tech/archives/2007/02/26/gadgettrak_find.html
Is there an opensource application that does this? If not, it would seem a natural addition to the portable application suite.
