Adding fonts in Windows 10 w/o Admin rights

Submitted by rovf on May 2, 2019 - 6:49am

Following the advice by iglvzx in https://superuser.com/questions/118025/using-custom-fonts-without-admini... , I created a directory PortableApps/PortableApps.com/Data/Fonts and copied my ttf and otf files to this directory. Then I started PortableApps. Still, the fonts are not visible in the system.

Did I miss something?

How to disable the annoying "error on startup" message when I open apps that werent closed correctly?

Submitted by pap_use on May 2, 2019 - 4:45am

This problem persists for many years, is there any way to disable this error message? Interestingly, I do not have an error message for 2 portable applications that I made myself - Firefox and Thunderbird (in 2014).

I am fully aware that the incorrect closure of applications can lead to data loss and I don't care about.

Antivirus Scan links and MD5 collisions, please post if you notice one

I've rolled out Antivirus Scan links and have started rolling out SHA-256 hashes to our app pages as mentioned in today's news story. Some app pages that haven't yet been updated with an SHA-256 will have an MD5 that links to more than one scan on VirusTotal. If you happen to notice one, please post here and I'll prioritize adding that app's SHA-256 to avoid the issue. Thanks!

firefox portable - couldn't load XPCOM

Submitted by jwattsrva on April 14, 2019 - 1:17pm

it looks like this subject hasn't popped up in a while - creating new thread. this morning i auto-updated firefox portable using the platform, and immediately got "firefox couldn't load XPCOM" i ran through some forum recommendations, tried to reinstall, i download a clean version of FirefoxPortable_66.0.3_English.paf.exe to run clean, independently with no imports or changes and it gave me the same error. the solution was to download the previous version FirefoxPortable_66.0.2_English.paf.exe, install over top of my existing version.

Game streaming from my desktop portably

Submitted by Sol33t303 on April 13, 2019 - 10:22am

I was thinking and it would be pretty cool if I were to setup game streaming from my Linux desktop to wherever I might be. For example, maybe I might be at a friends house and we decide to play some video games, so I could just plug in my portableapps USB with some game streaming software and start playing some games, for example.
