Is it possible to run a program from a location other than the C: folder?

Submitted by Returner on June 19, 2019 - 7:41pm

Upon testing portable versions of various programs made with the portableapps platform (coming in a folder with the exe and the app and data subfolders), I've noticed I cannot run any unless they are are in the C: root folder. Program crashes instantly upon launching. What am I missing here?

Close and open an app

Submitted by Gaber on June 11, 2019 - 11:46am

Hi,

I'm in trouble...

I would know if is possible, before open an app, close another, and after close this app reopen the other closed.

I have this problem:

Two free programs (both natively portable) AdMunch and Index Your Files.

AdMunch starts with computer, so is always opened.
When I start Index Your FIles, if AdMunch is opened, the main window bacame very little and locke (no resizable).

So I have to close manually AM, open IYF, close YOF, and reopen AM.

Use temp Path on HDD or SSD to enlarge USB-Stick Life Time

Hallo,

I am new here.

So first portabel Apps works fine, but one point is the same open so I used it not in the past.

Portable Apps uses often directly the space on the portable Apps Media, so if a tool, game, other program save often data, some USB-Sticks (MLC-technology is often used and so the write cycles are limited to 3000 if I am correct).

So why portable apps does not use the system temp folder and after ending or with special portal apps command will only then write it back to the USB MEDIA.

Delay AutoStart Apps

Submitted by wKovacs on June 6, 2019 - 2:31am

Hello,

I like PortableApps!

But I have a minor "problem" ...

I have a few apps which autostart on portableapps start. But almost every day one of them has an update available. So I have to close the app, install the update and start this app again.

Is there a way to delay the autostart of a program until the update check for them is done? and if there is a update the autostart will follow the update?

Regards

Admin rights

Hi,

with my computers (W7 and W10) I have the same behaviour.

When the systems were new (or reformatted) the launchers (the programs created with PortableApps Launcher) worked fine.
After some time (may be after other programs installations), Windows, EVERY TIME I launch a PApps applications (EVERY APPLICATIONS), show the window to execute them with admin privileges.

The normal programs start normally.

How can you explain this? An how can I correct it?

Thanks.
