Submitted by rius09 on February 9, 2007 - 10:15am

I am in high school and I have to do a Graduation Project.

I have chosen Open-Source Software...

And for my product I have chosen to find a way to improve on Firefox Portable...
I do not have any coding experience but I really want to do this... is there anybody out there who can help get started... like what kind of coding language I should learn and stuff like that if anybody is willing to help me that would totally awesome...

Just wanted to post a quick note about a recent upgrade. As the techies here know, PortableApps.com uses the Drupal content management system to handle the site, forums and pretty much everything else. I've been working the past week and a half to test the various modules, update the custom PortableApps.com theme and test the overall system to ensure that the upgrade would go smoothly.

The future of portable apps?

Submitted by pinksteady on February 7, 2007 - 1:52pm

Hi all,

I really like the idea of Portable Apps, and have been using Firefox and Thunderbird on my USB stick for a while now. However, I'm starting to think that this method of using external/additional hardware like USB sticks to run your applications is not the future of portable apps. As Google would probably tell you, hosted applications is the way forward, and I agree. I don't want to have to plug in my USB stick, along with all my keys that are attached to it, just to check my email, especially when I don't really want my boss to notice I'm doing it!
