Has CCleaner (ccPortable from Portable Apps) has become payware?
Until recently I had no problem running ccPortable on my Win 10 home.
When I click on 'custom clean' I get taken to a page where there is an offer ('use Pro version for free for 30 trial days') which I cannot refuse. Not accepting the Pro version means I cannot proceed with the cleaning. I'm blocked. Accepting the offer means I have to submit my Visa details to CCleaner, even if on a temporary basis ('30 day trial').
Very interesting looking software but I cannot find where it should be installed however.
May I introduce a few terms so I can better understand the architecture.
Source computer = My computer where I have all my apps installed/licenced etc.
Target computer = Where I want to run an portable app.
Cloud location = E.g. Onedrive etc.
Where should I install PortableApps.com?
On the target computer? But I cannot do that - not available to me.
I am about to ask the moon I am very sorry. it is just to try. thank you. I love this site and the apps on it. I know it is impossible to have many of this apps and that people have a life but if I am luky some of these could be useful to you to even if will never be added. thank you for your unappreciated revolutionary work!
I would like to request the portable version for some programs that can be useful for education and other endevours:
Storing portable apps in the cloud is very attractive these days as it is quite easy to login to one's cloud account on any computer and have all my portableapps instantly runable. This is great when remote controlling a PC via TeamViewer, RustDesk, etc. However what happens if one runs the same portable app launcher on both the local and the remote PC simultaneously since they are both sharing the same cloud storage?
It would be nice if they have advanced setting that would be included backup settings rules from apps by user.
it will be save storage and time on device and cloud!
my idear is that portable apps able to set owen folder/files to back up setting of any portableapp apps. this would be save as a backup_rule.txt
now you can sync/backup data with portableapps by one-click on device or cloud. also can be included compression with password.
the portableapps are able to filter list clear and export just path list do import into Owen backup-software/cloud service.
Hello,
on old Device, PortableApps will load verry long time by many apps if i start it first time.
it would be nice if they load old scans before update folders for apps and updates. The update rescan should be load silenc.
that would be nice to start apps faster!
Update: The best solution I've found for this is appimage.org. They have produced an app, appimagetool, which will compress into a single file the contents of a directory structure - much like the portableapps folder structure. The tool includes a process to redirect configuration references/changes (in lieu of the registry in Windows) to a folder named [program-name].home.
TL;DR: If LibreOffice Portable behaves clumsy, try the installer.
