did not close properly last time it was run and will now clean up. Please then start xxx manually

Yes, I found the now-closed and long-running thread about this error message. My issue is slightly different, or perhaps here is new information.

My ongoing problem is with System Explorer. I completely deleted the entire System Explorer folder and replaced it with a fresh install. I'm still getting the error!

I had thought the program startup status would have been set or flagged somewhere in the app data or ini... BUT this seems to suggest that the error is held in the registry instead (which makes me wonder about portability, but that's not at issue here).

Possible VIRUS!!! - Smart Defrag

Submitted by getco on September 25, 2013 - 5:51am

Hello,

Just as I was browsing using the latest Firefox Portable, a new Tab opened up with this page:

http://www.iobit.com/update/sd/index.php

Update to Smart Defrag V2.9.0- Now Easier, Faster and More Accurate!

(I have taken a screenshot of it in case it disappears)

First of all - I do have SmartDefragPortable, but haven't used it in ages, definitely haven't launched it today - absolutely, positively certain of it!

So how in the world does a portable app, that hasn't been opened (in ages!) force my browser to open up a page?

How to install MSI before main EXE and then uninstall this MSI on exit

Submitted by NS0001 on September 25, 2013 - 3:43am

Hi,

I could not understand docs and could not find examples
how to install MSI file before launching main EXE file.
I should uninstall this MSI on exit.

I don't understand how to make plugins here:

P.A. 12 Beta 2

Submitted by filimentation on September 16, 2013 - 9:18am

(FYI)I've been testing Portable Apps 12 Beta 2 for quite some time on Windows 8 64 with great success. But one feature I'd like to see in the next release is a way to "lock" the Portable Apps window open. Example:

Hi,

Clipjump is a clipboard manager allowing the simultaneous use of multiple clipboards, transferring everything copied via any means to the program's multiple clipboards.

  • Control multiple-Clipboards with just the 3 keys Ctrl+X,C,V
  • Comes with a History Recorder to keep track of Clipboard items
  • Supports instant preview of Clipboard Images
  • Store multiple clipboards in grouped channels, with no limit to the number of channels as well as the number of clips
  • Export and share clipboards

Portable Java together with jPort

Submitted by jman69 on September 11, 2013 - 9:37pm

Hi,

I'm using portable Java (jPortable) on to launch portable Java applications from the jPort http://jwork.org/jport/ project. I want to use my USB with jPort on Mac/Linux. How can I force my Java to figure it out the platform? It seems jPort applications are fully multiplatform (since Java), while jPortable Java installation is platform dependent (i.e. runs on Windows). jPort desktop assumes that Java VM is not portable and is already pre-installed on the host computer.

Creating custom Collection of Apps for Easy Download

Submitted by BurkeyAcademy on September 11, 2013 - 1:07pm

As a professor, I personally use many PortableApps, and require my students to use them as well. Is there a way to set up a "Custom Collection" of apps with a link for ease of downloading? As of now, I have students come by so I can copy them on to their pen drives, one at a time.
