VirusTotal Firefox Scanning plugin

I just found out about this: http://www.virustotal.com/advanced.html#browser-addons

Its a firefox/chrome addon where you can scan files you want to download before you do. Seems pretty handy to me.

For more info: visit this.

If the new layout is here, I think it would be cool to have a page about viruses, false positives etc.

Need a portable program to create profiles for the following browsers.

Submitted by indymaniaal on March 10, 2011 - 1:52pm

A few days ago I found out about portable browsers. I have several external hard drives along with portable drives along with flash drives and sd cards. Anyway I like using different browsers so I downloaded several portable browsers on my external drive, one of my flash drives, and a sd card. I am wondering can someone make or are there programs to create seperate profiles for the following browsers. Google Chrome, Opera, and Flock. I already have the one for firefox and it works good. Any help would be appreciated and thanks for providing these portable browsers.

Run skype on a company laptop (anti-virus blocking skype - I think!)

Submitted by klaxhu on March 10, 2011 - 11:10am

Hello all,

I got this laptop from work and I need to keep in touch with my folks at home - we always used skype.

The only computer I will have for the next couple of months is the one form work which has a antivirus/policies that don't permit me to instlla/run skype.

I've tried to make a stick with skype on a different computer with skype on it, but when I plug it in and start it I just get an error (I think it is the antivirus who does that ...)

Is there any way to make it work ? - did somebody come across similar problems?

Thanks!

Speedy flash drive?

Submitted by EOBeav on March 7, 2011 - 12:40pm

Just a question about flash drives. I love using these portable apps, but a few of the heftier ones--namely OOo--run unacceptably slow on my flash drive. Is there a way to speed them up? Or is there a recommended kind of USB drive that will work best? Thanks in advance for your answers.

PS--thanks a ton to the developers who make these available at no charge to me.

PA.com Apps Flagged by avast 6.0 Sandbox

Submitted by Chim on March 3, 2011 - 3:21pm

This morning I went to use PA.com's Revo Uninstaller for the 1st time.
avast 6.0.1000 popped up informing me that this App was a potentially dangerous App and prompted me if I wanted to run it in the Sandbox. I figured the App was likely good since I've been using PA.com Apps without issue for a while. But, out of curiosity, I let it run in the avast Sandbox just to see how that worked.
