Portable Chrome Crashing

Submitted by William518 on January 21, 2011 - 11:34am

I've been having problems with portable Chrome crashing for several weeks now. I found an old USB stick with Chrome 3.0 and it seems to work fine. However, I downloaded Chrome 8 to this stick and it will not run. Chrome will open, but will crash as soon as I try to load any website. Any ideas?

btw, I've tried the newer Chrome on 3 different jump drives and all 3 crashed.

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum but have been using PortableApps.com since 2007/2008 (something like that, I think). So my first question is when are the developers going to make themes for the menu and/or icons official? I mean like making a section full of themes in one of the links at the top. IMHO, I think that it would make the program much more appealing and customizable. Sorry if someone else posted something similar, it's good to make sure. BTW, I've already searched for "official themes" in the search box and none of the entries were similar to mine.

start.portableapps.com and Chrome

Submitted by sja5164 on January 17, 2011 - 2:02pm

Quick Question. I use Iron and use the address bar for all my searching (instead of going to a search engine first).

Chrome allows you to add sites to the search engine list and select a default. (for example, I have Walmart, amazon, and imdb all set as searchable, by beginning to type and then hit "tab".

Can I add start.portableapps.com to this list? Anyone have any insight?

New Platform

I was just wondering, is it possible for our next portable apps menu (or an update) to create an option to password protect the portable-apps folder and the documents folder? I was just thinking that would be a cool thing to do.

Prevent Windows 7 from add a portable game into "games" folder

I was trying to portabilize the game Age of Empires II (this topic) and succeeded. But now the problem is that Windows 7 always add these games into the "Games folder" of host system, and it ends up being a big hassle because we do not want our portable games to appear in the "Games folder" of someone elses computer.
Is there any way to prevent the windows "detect" the game and add it in the folder?
