How to change password.

Submitted by ristof on September 13, 2009 - 10:45pm

A big HEY to the forum community!

I'd like to know if anyone can help me please.

I registered and got the activation email message, clicked on it and it asked me to change my password. I believe the process is somewhat different to how other sites work in that it doesn't ask you to specify one before signing up.

What happened was I set a password and confirmed but when I clicked "save" it stayed on the same page.

Is this right?

Thanks

Final Warning: listless

listless - The next time you direct your abusive attitude toward someone on this forum you will receive a one month suspension to your account. You've been warned before and you've chosen to ignore those warnings. I am not a fan of having to police forum conduct, but acting like this toward a developer of a third party app who took the time to join and post in this forum is inexcusable.

Codifying Some Support

I don't know if anyone is keeping up with the gVim thread, but I posted about something that I thought the Release Team should handle (or at least consider). As I posted here, https://portableapps.com/node/15654#comment-126364, I thought the the release team should formalize where the whole Perl\Python\ruby, etc debate.

*Perl*
I'll start with perl as I butcher it quite well. There's two Perl releases in the forums currently:

Backup and Installation

Submitted by Aqualung on September 8, 2009 - 2:27pm

1. Can I install PortableApps in a folder on my hard drive? Or does it have to be on a portable drive?
2. If yes, would that installation be any different from an installation on a USB dongle, say?
3. What does "Backup" do? Is that a simple .zip file generation/packaging? Or is it more than that?
4. What does "Restore Backup" do? Is that simple unzipping/unpacking? Or is it more than that?

Blocking pages

Does anyone know how to block pages through firefox (portable?) or any other browser?

I convinced my (co-volunteer?) to get internet for our (church) school because he had previously taken it out because others were going to bad websites, yada, yada, yada.

I know how to block websites with safari on a mac but I have no clue what web browsers can do so on a PC.

Any ideas?

Website Suggestions

Submitted by chinthor on September 3, 2009 - 5:38pm

Just some ideas for the website.

First, I guess, have a section for suggestions. Smile

Mainly, you might want a download feature I've seen elsewhere. Since you have such a long list of tiny downloads, us a sort of "shopping cart" approach and allow a person to download them all at once.

Thanks. Cheers!

Uninstalling Items.

Hey everyone,

I've only been using this program for a few days, and I have been downloading many apps to test, I've found a handful that I'm happy with and will use regularly, but.. I have a list of about 25 programs now, and I don't need the others. I have limited space on my flash drive and I was hoping that there is a way to uninstall items? So I can make it easier for myself to locate what I'm needing.

Thanks in advance,

-Taz

Ceedo Shot in Foot?

Submitted by GrahamG on September 2, 2009 - 7:36am

I am thinking of adopting Ceedo as my preferred 'portable environment'.

Alas, when I downloaded the latest version of Ceedo Personal, everything was fine although I kept getting what looked like an internet access everytime I changed something in the Ceedo Options tab. I thought that strange and the Ceedo forum said it was a known bug that would be fixed in their next release.
