Multiple installers

Submitted by nmanguy on July 23, 2008 - 2:05am

Now that I have a few (dozen) apps I like, and I have helped people make their own PA drives, I have to say that there's one thing I don't like. Installing the apps. I've looked around, but I couldn't find any way to install a large amount of apps with a single button press, and then let everything extract. Instead, I have to repeatedly click options, install, choose one app at a time, wait for it to extract, and then repeat for each app. It takes about 20 minutes for me to make a new PA install on a local disk, and then 4-10 minutes to copy it to a thumb drive.

Launching PA Menu

Submitted by palapaguy on July 22, 2008 - 7:30pm

I have been running U3 solely because of its auto run feature and launchpad with password access, which I like for security against casual hackers. But this requires more clicks than I'd like in order to get to the PA menu and from there launch a PA app. Then on shutdown I have to remember to close both PA and U3.

Can I eliminate U3 altogether, then upon flash drive insertion be prompted for a password, and then have the PA menu launch automatically?

Help with Autorun

Submitted by J_Freely on July 22, 2008 - 12:49pm

Hello everyone, this is my first post on this website. I've been using PortableApps for a week or two, and am incredibly pleased with its functionality.

However- I cannot for the life of me find out how to get the AutoRun to work. I'm not the most technical person, and I see the file on my drive (it has Setup Information underneath the main title). Can anybody help me get this feature to work?

I have a Sandisk Cruzer Micro 2GB, if that helps at all or is necessary.

Thanks.

2 questions [about app listing in the PAM]

Submitted by Partizan_007 on July 22, 2008 - 10:40am

Hello. I wish to set 2 questions. 1 - how to hide the some .exe files of foreign progr.that them were not visiblevisible in the list of the started program? 2 - how to rename already added items? Where are such functions in the program or how it is soon possible to expect their occurrence? Excuse for my English)

Already Portable Apps

Submitted by what on July 20, 2008 - 5:58pm

Where can I submit already portable apps I have found? In the Request Apps Forum? What about an Apps Submission Forum for these apps. I don't want to gunk up the Request Forum with submissions of these apps. But for now.....

With the apps listed below you can just unzip & put the folder in the PortableApps folder where the rest of your apps are installed. If you run across any apps out there that don't unpack into a folder you can try renaming it to "name".paf & opening it in the PortableApps.com installer located under options on the Portable Apps Platform.....ENJOY!

Submitted by what on July 20, 2008 - 4:48pm

Hello...My Portable Apps Platform was working great just before my back up of my data but now it won't launch. The dialog box pops up saying it can't find PortableAppsMenu.exe. I have even attempted to re-install the Platform from new DLs including beta versions but get like the one mentioned above about the PortableAppsMenu.exe. I know where to put it if I had it if some one could help me out that would be great. Everything else installs just fine I just can't run the platform....Peace.....What

Portable Apps Search

Submitted by Jacob Mastel on July 19, 2008 - 5:03pm

Sorry if my topic is a little misleading. I know John makes money off of google adds as well as a google search engine here. Personally I try to use this as much as I can to support the site. However a lot of the time it's just not convienient and I just automatically go up to the little thing in my top right corner as I'm sure many people do. Is it possible to create a button for that search bar? Something simmilar to how we have the search for the forums is it possible to create one for our own google search?

Leftovers from Mojopac

Submitted by palapaguy on July 19, 2008 - 1:26pm

I made the mistake of installing the free version of Mojopac on the flash drive that I use for PA. Didn't like it and removed the Mojopac files, but this didn't get rid of it completely.

I changed the volume label back, but "MojoPac" still shows beside the drive letter at the bottom of the PA launcher, and under MyComputer, but not on the DOS prompt. I reinstalled the PA suite over the old one but that didn't help.

USB-pendrives or USB-HDD enclosures with useful, unique, special or cool features

Submitted by jps on July 19, 2008 - 4:58am

We all know the standard plain pendrives or USB-HDD's. Long time I wasn't aware that there are other useful features are available and I think other people to. This thread is to show and to discuss pendrives and USB-HDD's with advanced "unusually" features.
