Submitted by email4jack2read... on June 25, 2008 - 5:55pm

I recently downloaded the packages open office 3 beta and peazip to find trojan.hupignon in open office 3 and a broken executable with worm in peazip ?

Not very good security boys.

Jack

PS Found virus inside clam portable 0.93 using a clam antivirus scanner... not the 0.93 version. Also found broken link insdie.

And...., the boys that scanned the files that have been blue pilled will get false results.

GIMP_Portable download issue

Submitted by godt on June 23, 2008 - 7:55pm

Everytime I download Gimp_Portable, irrespective of which version or which download source, I get a corrupt file. This, by doing the standard left click on appropriate download button on whichever site. I have tried through different browsers, for whatever effect that might have. Download stalls about 85% complete, then dies. I have downloaded and installed a new PortableApps platform. I have no problems with downloading anything else.

PortableApps.com Affiliate Button

Submitted by HalosGhost on June 23, 2008 - 5:57pm

Hi, I recently started a webpage at http://darf.ianweller.org/~halosghost/ And I wanted to list PortableApps.com as one of my affiliates. So I created an affiliate button. It uses the PAM logo, but all credit goes to you guys, and I'm only using it to give you guys a little more publicity. Stop by, and tell me if it's okay to use. If it isn't, can you guys post an official affiliate button?

I'd like to continue working on the Dev Test page, but I'd also like to share the responsibility with another few users. Lately my free time has been decreasing quickly, and looks to continue to do the same until mid-august. Any help will be appreciated.

John, could you please grant Stevo edit privileges for the page, and possibly one or 2 other users that show interest in maintaining this page?

Java Should Be Completely Free Soon

Not sure if this really belongs here, or should be in Off Topic.

I came across a blog entry that says JAVA should become completely GPL within the next few months. The 2 biggest components holding them back were a graphics library and a sound library. The original owner of the graphics library has finally agreed to allow Sun to release the source, and the Sun developers have decided to write their own OSS sound library.

Finding paths for config, ini, personal info, downloaded, cache etc

Submitted by ElJay on June 23, 2008 - 12:21am

I have been trying to find the paths where apps put their config, recent, cache etc. One reason is so I can load the paths that track and store info of browsing and downloads in a file shredder and have a simple sweep at the end of a session clear everything out. I like also to be able to find the config and driver files so I can see how the program hangs together, and what I can customise etc. Searching through each app forum etc to find the info takes a lot of time, is frustrating, and generally unfruitful.

Search "suggestions" in replies to Newcomers

I would like to suggest a template for the famous/infamous "search first" replies.

First, let me say, we have gotten much, much better at this.
It is rare to see the harsh "search first" replies anymore.

But I do think they can be more gentle and "inviting"

May I suggest

Also many questions like this have been asked before and you might find your answer faster by using the Search Bar function in the upper right hand corner of your screen.

You can of course modify, but note that I avoided the use of terms like,
