Partition Chip

Submitted by teachme on December 22, 2007 - 10:21am

OK, I know this can be done but HOW????

Background:

I had a U3 4g chip for two years and loved it, most of the time. Best part was that I could password protect it. OK, I know that it is perhaps possible to crack that, but for 99.99 percent of people who found it that would not be a worry.

Unfortunatly it got zapped and as I needed a bigger drive anyway I got a nice new 8g chip. Unfortunatly I could not find a U3 one. Hence I have come over to the portable apps side of things, and quite like it, especially the openness of it.

portableapps registry?

Submitted by FoxxEnoch on December 20, 2007 - 2:10pm

Okay so I was surfing the net the other day and I came across something called Creedo. Its kind of like the portableapps menu but it has a really big difference. Its like it was built around sandboxies source or something, because inside its folder it has another folder set up like the average C drive (program files, etc.), but the really cool part is that you can install non portable applications with it, and their reg settings are redirected into the portable registry. Then when you run the program, it comes up with a colored border, and pound symbols before and after the name.

recommend a desktop callender?

Submitted by jps on December 20, 2007 - 10:27am

I am currently looking for some desktop calendar which seams well into the desktop (you may call it "widget", looks like http://markpasc.org/lj/200507/ywidg_calendar.png). Similar to stickies (very good portable notes software).

Important features for me:
- I don`t care at all if it`s stealth, but it must be portable in sense it stores all private data in program folder.
- Store data after being typed automatically (in case of shut down or windows crash not data shall be unsaved).

I'll be merging this into the official Forum Guidelines once we've sorted everything out.

I looked in the backup folder but nothing is in there. where could this huge file be?

Portable apps - to - packagefactory - to U3

Submitted by tyronebcookin on December 18, 2007 - 9:03pm

Hopefully I am not rehashing something but i did do a few forum searches on this already...

Which protables apps are actually faster U3 or PA...

And, I took the PA version of firefox and put it thru package factory then installed it on U3 because I did not want to lose all the bookmarks and settings I already had on my PA firefox, but wanted to see how this would work...problem is I can't tell at this point if its faster or slower, but it does work.

What could be the ramifications of this?

Virus in Autorun.inf file?

Submitted by Zhrakkan on December 18, 2007 - 2:20pm

I was re-installing my entire USB drive with newer version of all the Apps software.
I installed the PortableApps.com_Platform_Setup_1.1_Beta_4.exe
file and keep getting the Autorun.inf file as having the INF/Rustank.A worm.

I am using ETrust AV 7.1.501

Is there a virus in the installer? Or might this be a False positive?
