It supports DCC Chat and File transfers, Connecting to multiple servers, Dockable Floating Tabbed Windows, Autohiding Windows, DLL Plugins, Channel Monitoring, Message Logs, Event Viewer, Themes, Color schemes, Buddy groups, Audible and Visual Notifications , Reg-Exp Highlighting, Favorites and much more.

Note: HydraIRC is NOT a script, plugin or any other kind of add-on for mIRC. In fact it's got nothing to do with mIRC at all

Portable Mirror/Synchronize/Update

It would be great if there was a PortableApp (similar to M$ Windows Automatic Update) that could be added to each drive to manage updates.

The refinement of portable applications is moving almost too quickly for techies to stay current. And once some of my friends & co-workers saw the advantage of using a thumb drive with a versatile suite of tools, they all wanted me to run off a drive copy for them. Now it is getting to be a hassle keeping them up on the most current (or most stable) software releases.

I'd really like to maintain several different suites of software. --- Office drones, web dev geeks, and Always-Connected addicts all have different needs. Some also need more idiot-proofing while others can handle being on the bleeding edge.

SAGA - Portable GIS?

Submitted by msevilla on April 30, 2006 - 1:34pm

Hello,

I'm a user of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and from a while I'm using the powerful opensource software SAGA (System for Automated Geoscientific Analyses).

I was wondering if its possible to include this software in your portable apps list because it's distributed in a package that runs from any folder of the computer.

The URL is: http://www.saga-gis.uni-goettingen.de

How you can see it’s a GIS Software under the GNU GPL License so, I guess there are no reasons to not add this application to portableapps.com

Portable dvd shrink?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on April 30, 2006 - 8:26am

I think this would be a great portable application, as its already quite small and would be great to put on the flash drive.

Also a free program like dvdfabdecrypter would be great to have to remove protection.

Text 2 speech programs.

Submitted by catscam on April 29, 2006 - 4:28am

Are there any Portable text 2 speech programs that can be run off a USB
stick & that don’t modify the registry? I have tried many from freeware
to shareware, & everyone seems to modify the registry. I don’t have
administrative rights on the computer I’m using, so this registry situation
is messing me up.

--- UPDATE: ---
Looks like DSpeech v1.55.1 is 100% portable, free & sounds considerably
better then the basic Microsoft Sam speech.

Portable BORGchat? (chat on LAN)

Submitted by dyce on April 28, 2006 - 10:02pm

since i have multiple flashdrives and the computers at school either are sp1 or have administrator student accounts w/ deepfreeze, this works for me fine with out portability tweaks. but it would be great if it were tweaked. my friends and i use borgchat to chat during study period w/o making the teaching mad. we also use powermenu so the teacher wont notice anything at where she is at :D. maybe someone could make a nsis launcher for it?
