PortableApps.com Menu, Backup and Platform/Suite installer.
What is the purpose of this installer definition, and what do I set it to if the app in question doesn't use plugins?
I found this in thread: https://portableapps.com/node/6884. Is there any possibility of this seeing completion? I don't need it, but it would be a possible way of spreading the word about PortableApps.com. This is small enough that you could e-mail it to a friend or if the license permits, post it on your webpage or blog. Also would make downloading and installing easy for a beginner.
Just curious.
Hi there,
I just discovered this awesome project that is PortableApps, and I immediately installed it on my HDD. All apps works (Rock'n Roll!), but just one thing to fix is reminding: my autorun.
Effectively, it doesn't launches the menu. The icon and the name of the device are successfully changed, but it doesn't launches what we want.
Does anybody had this problem already and know how to fix it?
Thanks a lot.
I'm using Fedora Core 8, but I can't edit/add/delete files from Fedora. I've tried changing it by going into XP and un-clicking "Read-Only." So do I have to give my account, on Fedora, special privelages? Or do I have to change something from XP?
EDIT: I'm using Portable Apps on a USB flash drive.
Using a Freecom 80GB USB drive where everything works (more-or-less) perfectly on my XP machines at home and in the office.
I plug in the portable drive on my Dell Vostro 4GM RAM, 1TB HDDs and nothing in PortableApps works (including all the applications) apart from the menu loading.
If I don't load PortableApps reads and writes work just fine to and from the drive. If I launch PortableApps then I get a dialog that tells me that the system cannot write to the above file.
i am haveing some problems changing the name of my flash drive i like to name my flash drives by there memory (2 GB) but ever since i downloaded portable apps i cant chang it and the image if of the portable apps icon how can i change this plz reply
I have spent some time searching and looking through the forums but haven't been able to find the answers to these questions. Hopefully I'm not breaking any rules by posting here.
1. Is it possible to put a file shortcut on the opening menu of portable apps?
2. Is it legal to put portableapps.com on USB drives that I will be selling? Are there any limitations? The reason I am selling the USB flash drives is that I am marketing the drives with a file I built on them.
Hi,
I have a Sandisk U3 Smart Drive with U3 Software Central installed.
Is possible to use PortableApps and U3 Software Central at the same USB flash drive? Is there any problem with that?
Can I put PortableApps Applications running on U3 Software Central or U3 Software running in PortableApps Suite?
Thanks
yostore
Is there a way to change the icon color? I have a few drives that all have portable apps installed. I want to make it so they have different color icons to tell the difference. I tried doing it but then i get an error that the .exe is corrupt etc...
How can I convince it that it is the real thing.
I remember when this site started it didn't have a suit, but used PStart as the menu launcher.
It was nice, but the portableapps suite looked much better when it appeared.
Few days ago when my antivirus detected a trojan in the suite, probably a false alarm as i see now, i freaked out and installed the new PStart again.
