There's another way to have Windows show custom icons for folders without interfering with other operating systems: set the System attribute on the folder (only System; NOT Hidden). If you do this, the folder will still show up in Explorer with its custom icon, and should allow Linux and others to write to it, unlike currently...

I have 2 small problems with Portable Apps. One, the Menu does not laonch automatically when I insert flash drive. I start it by exploring to the "Start Portable Apps.exe in root of USB drive or by making ashortcut on my computer desktop. 2. One the menu program is running in the Taskbar there seems to be no way of stopping it except by using Ctl-Alt-Delete and ending the application. The "x" in the lower right corner of the menu does nothing. Any suggestions? Thanks

is there anyway to change the size of the menu?

I'm running portable apps on my eeePC and when i start the portable apps, the menu pops-up and occupies alomst half the screen estate. Am hoping to find a way to reduce the size of the menu so that it can fit nicely in a 800x480 puny screen. Thanks!

I got bored and wanted to mess around with the menu. Check it out here just put in PortableApps\PortableAppsMenu\App\DefaultData\Theme to see what it looks like with your apps, it looks better when the menu uses it. Tell me what you think. I might make more if I get positive feedback.

Thunderbird link in menu does not open thunderbird.

Tried it on 2 desktops and on a usb will not load. Reinstalled Thunderbird via add new app to get the link to find thunderbird.

With this method you can replace your U3 Launcher with the Portable Apps Suite (or any program for that matter).

Using the LPInstaller with a custom iso isn"t new. However, the way I've implemented it is.

Don't get me wrong, PortableApps is amazing-- just what I have been looking for. All of the softwares that come with it I use on a daily basis. (Besides maybe winMd5Sum lol) But I noticed that portable apps took the name of my drive, changing it to "PortableApps" instead of "DDISK" and then changed the icon to the PortableApps logo. Is there any way to change it back?

Problems:

1. Fire Fox won't launch
2. Thunderbird won't launch
3. Clam antivirus will not connect to get virus defs.

All my other Portable Apps. will launch correctly.

I have downloaded and installed each of the problem apps. several times. The same problems continue.

I use Portable Apps Base, and a PNY, 1 GB thumb drive.

Any ideas? I am frustrated.
