Drive name

Submitted by thegreenwizard on May 26, 2008 - 1:52pm

I use a few USB-drives, and every one has a specific name. But since I installed PA suite, the name of my drives was changed to "PortableApps.com" in Windows explorer.
Is it a way that I could keep the name of the drive in state of the general "PA.com"?
Thanks

Actually I use VistaPremium SP1.

No theme?

Submitted by alanhorkan on May 26, 2008 - 12:50pm

I realise someone must have done a theme that looks all plain like Windows 2000 but what I'm wondering is if there is a way to simply strip away the theming that comes with the Portable apps menu and let the boring old grey widgets show through?

So it isn't theming I'm interested in so much as stripping the menu down to the bare essentials. Any ideas?

wallpaper swapper troubles

Submitted by wolf99 on May 24, 2008 - 11:47am

Hey All

I am using version 1.0 with Mod30. didn't even realize what the wallpaper swapper did till saw it mentioned in the v1.1 release.

Checked out the old Mod30 thread and found the only difference was in the image file name.

but it does not seem to work! Sad
do I need to have privileges for this to work either for the Mod30 or the PAMv1.1?

If it doesn't work for the Mod 30 but will for the PAMv1.1 I have a second question.

ASuite (for me) more versatile/flexible and easier to use

Submitted by eleavings on May 23, 2008 - 8:35am

While I like the look of the PA Platform and some of the features such as integrated backup, eject, etc. I have found that ASuite is much more flexible and useful. You can add any app to the menu you want in any order. Group apps together any way you want. App EXEs do not have to be adjacent to the ASuite app, you can "launch" any extension type from any directory even those not on the USB drive. You can even set customized parameters to use when launching an app as well as set any icon you want.

Newly introduced eject feature

Hello.

I just wanted to thank you regarding the introduction of the eject functionnality. I used the Platform 1.0 for a while and was a bit annoyed that such a feature wasn't available, so I switched to Portable Start Menu from another developer. At the moment I think Portable Start Menu has the most user-friendly and most efficient eject feature from all the portable application launchers.

Rename Menu Items

Some programs are compiled with ridiculous descriptions in the "Internal Name" of the program Properties, which is what Portable Apps seems to display. It would be nice to be able to easily change the displayed name if required.
