Hi,
maybe we already talked about this topic here but i wanted to ask for ekiga, a great voip with video-voip support. Of course Opensource software and standart in ubuntu with gnome, like the gimp.
I think under windows it saves the profile localy on hdd and makes reg entries.

It would be great to make it portable
I would like to help but on my own computer i dont have a windows environment and at work i use linux. Maybe i will try a VM for start to help portable apps in 2k9.
here beta:
Hello
I work with AutoCAD and Sketchup,
Sometimes i need to show a Project for the Client but he have not AutoCAD or Sketchup.
It would be very good if i Could have a portable software to show the project for the client from pendrive, without install a software on her computer.
Thanks.

A very nice and light media converter for audio and video files to convert between mobile formats and desktop formats.
It converts:
from and to
Desktop Audio: mp3, wma, ogg, wav
Mobile Audio: amr, awb
Desktop Video: wmv, mpeg, wmv, avi, flv
Mobile Video: 3gp
I use it to convert my AMR files to MP3 and really love it!
You can find more info here:

It has source code located here:

As far as I know, this is the most inclusive formatting app in the world. Its free and would be absolutely killer if run from a thumb drive. Get this app, whether or not it becomes portable.
Howdy yall,
I'm still new here, but I was thinking. We have a portable Mac OS why not have an OS that can use Other towers and machines? I happen to know that there is a Linux Distrobution called "Damn Small Linux" (DSL). Located here: http://damnsmalllinux.org/
Hopefully I am posting this in the right place, I recently found an old Sega megadrive in the loft and dusted it off to play some of my old favourites (showing my age there) but alas it did not work.
So I was wondering if anybody knew of as open source Sega Megadrive emulator that I could download from somewhere and if it was possible to make the aforementioned software, if indeed it exists, portable.
I know there are some DOS emulators and was hoping somebody may have come across what I am looking for.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
About two years ago, I think John had a portable Shareaza in the works. What's the status of that? It just kind of dropped off the radar...
Firstly I KNOW 'fineprint' [http://www.fineprint.com/] is NOT open source/freeware etc & it's more of a 'driver' than a software - but does anyone know of something similar that IS Open Source & can be made portable
The one thing I find a pain @ work is the waste of paper when printing stuff out,
whether it's a Word,PDF,Excel or whatever
Yet by using a program like 'Fineprint' to squeeze 2 pages onto 1 or do double sided printing (even if it does mean manually turning the pages over) would be a god-send
